I got the Carrara 3 beta yesturday, and have been playing around with it. Really love what they've done to the Vertex Modeler. But I've been having problems with the extrusion tool. I just can't get it to work. Don't know if this is a beta-bug or just Operator Error. Can anyone help me with this? I read the PDF section on the VM and followed (as much as I could swinging back and forth as Carrara does take over the desktop and doesn't like much switching back and forth) the instructions for this seemingly nifty new tool. But it just seems to "extrude in place" I don't have snap to grid on, and as far as I can fathom, I don't need an extrusion path to use this tool, as it supposedly extrudes perpendicular to the original cross section. tia, mm

Since I can't see what steps you are actually taking to extrude, I'll take a guess and see if it helps. Make sure that you have the polygon selection as your choice in the properties tray. (the old tools now have new options) Once the polygons you want are selected you should be able to move the mouse with the selection tool over one of the polys chosen and click-n-drag. There are several options regarding how the polys behave as well so either press one of the modifier keys to get or switch to the one you want or manually select it in the properties tray. I really like being able to extrude multiple polygons simultaneously. (Although Amapi has been able to do this for some time, it's new to Carrara.) I don't know if the image helps but there it is anyway...

Mark -- the screen captures helped out a great deal! I think I got it kinda figgured out. I think the issue I had was pre-selecting and having the "link" check box checked. I was able to do something like what you posted here in no time. Thanks for the reply, now it's back to C3 playtime...
