This is the fourth month in a row that HMann's cloth room tutorial has been in the 'free' stuff offerings under the sponsors. I'm sorry, not all of us can afford Poser 5, and while there is nothing wrong with having Poser5 things offered in the Free Stuff part of the newsletter, can we please try not to cut out everyone BUT P5 users...? It is already difficult enough to locate things for P4 in the 'recent' freestuff and MP areas of Rosity... Not everyone can pony up the cash for P5, sorry to say, but isn't it about time the Free Sponsor is changed to something OTHER than Hmann's Cloth Room tutorial...? And yes - I do read the entire newsletter every week. I'm just not exactly a big spender in the MP since my job I'm lucky to see 100 dollars USD coming into the house on a weekly basis. ~seli

The sponsorship has been changed from weekly to monthly. This will allow us to provided higher quality free items from the monthly sponsor rather than pumping out weekly products that arent as high quality. Next month will feature a really cool sci-fi prop set from Richabri. It will be in next weeks Newsletter. Thanks for your feedback. Clint

Personally, I'd rather have lower quality free items, if that's what it takes to be able to offer a new one every week. As Seliah says above, those of us without P5 have been sans a freebie for the past month - so the quality of the one on offer is a bit of a moot point to us! It's very generous of merchants to offer us free stuff, but it would be nice if more of them got the opportunity to be showcased in the newsletter. Much preferred the old 'one a week' format. Doubt my peferences will count for much, though!

"The sponsorship has been changed from weekly to monthly." Um Clint, thats all fine and stuff but even if it was changed as such a while ago, that would still mean hmann's cloth tut. was in there for a few newsletter rotations. Also with as much talent as there is in the MP you should be able to find 4 good quality merchants each month. If you wanted to get some good products from merchants for the sponsored freebie on a weekly basis, it could be easily done. I agree "sponsored freebies" should be great quality. While there are a fair share of MP merchants, not everyone would start at the beginning of the month and take a month's time to provide a freebie. People start projects for their MP items everyday. The sponsored freebie could be something related but with stand alone usability to a new MP, or old, product. Thus, helping their sales, helping the MP out, etc.. In return maybe something could be offered, such as how Daz offers a $10 GC for their tutorial submissions. Not saying rosity should offer that, just to get the point across that a small offer goes a long way in community growth and member participation. Dan

I don't know, because I'm not on the inside track, but is it remotely possible that the reason there isn't a weekly freebie now is because the merchants did not jump forward with enough free items to make the weekly offering feasible? I'm just asking. I haven't a clue. There were people who complained that they missed the weekly freebie because they accidently deleted the newsletter (or didn't get it). It doesn't seem that bad an idea to offer it more than once to allow for people who may be on vacation or experiencing computer crashes or whatever to have a chance at the download. My opinion, not worth anything these days.

There are few things at play here. 1) We are trying to offer higher quality items. 2) My time. Each free product has to be scheduled weeks or months in advance, supplied to me, tested, staged for Dl and then included in the NL. We feel that the new monthly sponsorship will be a good thing. Each sponsor is in the newsletter for an entire month. Next month is Richabri. Clint

Sure; I appreciate the answer, Clint. That's all I was asking. I was not trying to start a huge disagreement, and I apologize if that happens. ~seliah

Arf! I like free stuph too, but I'll go with the quality over quantity. As for Poser 5, I'm a Mac user so I don't have to explain my feelings about that! And now it sounds like the Renderosity magazine is in trouble! Oh woe!
