That should be "Who is going to be second?" Proof before post. Proof before post. Proof before post.

caleb and Tommy deserve the kudos on that one. They got it working. If I could spend less time breaking up fights and more on writing and artwork, I'd have stuff to post. :(

Heck, I haven't beat up anyone in at least an hour. Did I miss out on a good brawl? I know you worked hard to get the Writers' Forum to have the same access as the other parts of Renderosity. You get to take some bows. And, with any luck, maybe we'll all behave long enough for you do something other than policing. So, does anyone know if you can leave fingerprints in a virtual world?

I guess I'm second, maybe. :)

I've been waiting all day to see what you posted....they must be having a slow day. :( By the way, for anyone as uninformed as I turned out to be, executable zip files are not a good idea because Mac users can't open them. Zip files are okay. I don't recommend posting an unzipped pdf file because it comes through in pieces. Sigh. I think I made as many mistakes as one could with one project.

Misunderstanding. :) I was thinking of just actually looking at the new sections as opposed to adding to 'em. Though I am trying to get some of my stuff together, I seem to be missing a way to actually open things. I have wordperfect at work, but not at home. I'm going to have to start writing things plaintext. :D

Jon/jstro recomments Open Office. It's free. It might work for you. :)Caly posted Sat, 02 August 2003 at 4:42 AM
Ah yes. Kind of scary for a Mac user, it relies more on the Unix underbelly than the usual friendly Mac GUI. Still, I will have to look into this. Thanks. :)

Oh, I didn't know about the Mac part. Sorry. I'm surprised your Mac didn't come with a word processing program that would save in different formats. They are such efficient computers.

It came with Textedit, it's great for .txt, .doc, .pdfs and .html and such, but it doesn't seem to like the old Corel's PC WordPerfect. Might be that the WP is such an old version... who knows. :)

Yeah, that could be the issue. There have been a lot of compatibility issues between Macs and PCs through the years. Hope you are able to work it out. I don't want to be the only one sitting up there in the Free Stuff area. :) My Mac tester reports that he was able to open the zip file and view the pdf now so that encourages me.

Heck, I haven't beat up anyone in at least an hour. Did I miss out on a good brawl? Nah, just someone not thinking about what they're saying and me hitting the roof. (There's a few buttons you don't push, and that person definitely hit one of mine. And when I do get mad, it shows.) Another reason not to use .exe files is that people can't be sure they're not viruses. DAZ is about the only place I'll accept .exe files from. Otherwise, if it's not a .zip file, I won't look at it. With .zip files, I can open the file and view what's inside without running malicious code. With .exe files, I have to hope the person is honest and has up-to-date virus files. I'll have to look at the newsletter later today or tomorrow. What's it like, being the first freebie poster? :) Cheers!

I'm just trying to figure out who the 34 people are that downloaded the thing...but then I'm always surprised when someone looks at my gallery too. :)
