Hello, I just received an email from Daz about the Platinum club newest offer and I decided to break down and join. The link from the email did not work. I went to Daz and typed in all my info (credit card number etc) I then get a error message after I submit. I don't see a email address for them just the "comment form". I want to see if the info went thru or do I have to resubmit. Bill

ssalter posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 10:12 AM

Yeah, I got that offer in email as well. Too bad they didn't give that kind of amazing bonus offer to those of us who are already Platinum Club members. It would be nice to PC members to have those discounts. Ah well...sob...weep...lol. How to contact Daz? Well, on their site they have a link for Contact info. Here are their phone numbers. 1-800-267-5170 1-801-495-1777

Largest delay is redirecting email to correct person
-"Tech Support" is for Product problems and installer problems
-"Webmaster" is for webpage or store errors
-"Sales" is a problem with a financial transaction
-"Feedback" is when you want to say you love everything we make and want more Vicki stuff :)

gildedgecko posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 10:22 AM

Current PC members DO get the extra discounts, we just don't get the 'bonus pack of 45 DAZ products worth over$500.' sigh We've supported the program from the beginning, have been spending our money in their store for months, and yay! the old PC members get....to spend more money! Eh, I don't mind. I signed up for the discounts, which is what I got. Can't really complain that the prodigal sons are being lavished with gifts when I've not been cheated.

ssalter posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 10:25 AM

That is quite true, but since I am a PC member, I'd rather not know how much better the new offers are. grin

Strixowl posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 10:27 AM

Have been a PC Member for some time and was surprised that this super wonderful gift we had been looking out for was only to those who JOIN now. I agree ssalter I thought this BIG gift was for ALL PC members. I understand that a number of items went to .99 cents (Which is appreciated but the e-mail I got says: "Platinum Club Member Appreciation Sale" Is that the .99 cent offerings?

ssalter posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 10:34 AM

Well, I didn't think it was for all PC members, they were pretty clear it was just an incentive to get more new PC members. I was just grousing about it in a half hearted sort of way.

We don't get the "50% off ALL DAZ Original products AND 35% off ALL Brokered products storewide!" I tried to by Sara Spriteling & the Goddess hair (Brokered Items). I stopped before I made the actual purchases because there was no $35.00 discount. So as I see it we current PC Members don't get the discounts except the .99 Cents one. Please tell me I'm somehow wrong :-)

SKondris posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 10:42 AM

The big gift is for every Platinum Club member. If you joined recently (since July 3rd) you'll get the bonus pak within a few days in your account. If you joined before that, you'll get the pack once you renew your subscription. The Member Appreciation Sale is for everyone who's a member, new or veteran. This sale goes until August 13th, 2003 so enjoy! Steve Kondris DAZ Productions, Inc.

"As a special "Thank You" to everyone who has joined and made the Platinum Club what it is today, DAZ is holding a two week sale for Members Only. This special promotion is just for Platinum Club members, so don't wait! The sooner you become a member, the sooner you can start taking advantage of this limited time offer. Sale runs now through midnight August 13th, 2003."

And current PC members will get the bonus pack when they renew.

"(Members who joined prior to the new payment options will be given a bonus pak when they renew their subscription)."

I do see that sort of info if I go to the Daz site and login though. It might be good to make the "Member Appreciation Sale" clearer in the email if you want more current PC members to check it out. That notice is almost at the bottom of the page on your site as well. Hmm, when I renew, eh? I'm a newbie in the PC, just since May, so I have most of a year to go before I need to renew. I wonder if the bonus pack will be available then. Well, I'll just wait and see! In the meantime, if it is true I get the benefits of the sale as advertised, I'll have to go shopping! I was going to buy a nice recliner with teh bonus I got from finishing a project ahead of schedule but I suppose...oooh, I suppose I could just buy a few things to make me sit here longer in front of the computer screen. lol

If you read it through the more info section, you will see a scheduled release date of September 1st for Michael 3.

pendarian posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 11:57 AM

Okay, I just want to be clear on this...it's supposed to be 50% off Daz originals and then 35% across the board on all brokered products? Because if that is so, then either my calculator is off or the store isn't set up correctly yet, because 35% off of 19.95 is 12.96, not 15.96. Pendy

Strixowl posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 12:04 PM

Hi Steve, If "The big gift is for "every" Platinum Club member." If "The Member Appreciation Sale is for everyone who's a member, new or veteran." and the sale includes "50% off ALL DAZ Original products AND 35% off ALL Brokered products storewide!" Why didn't I get the discounts when I tried to buy Sara Spriteling & the Goddess hair (Brokered Items). I stopped before I made the actual purchases because there was no 35% discount showing. Does the discount show before the last checkout page? Steve did I miss something?? Really not trying to be a pain. I was just holding out to get these items and may have to forgo for awhile :-)if these discounts don't apply.

Penguinisto posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 12:09 PM

...but DAZ certainly does have someone holding the phone in his place. FYI. /P

gildedgecko posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 12:16 PM

It appears that the discounts DO NOT apply to the new brokered items that are ALREADY discounted, even if they're discounted for less than 35%. That's the way it's been in previous years (pre-PC) when DAZ had their annual summer sale. New items that were 20% off remained 20% off, instead of the 30% that was typical throughout the rest of the store.

pendarian posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 12:38 PM

Then if that is true, it needs to be stated. Otherwise, what they are saying is totally incorrect. I'm not trying to be a pain either, I just want to know what is what before I make any purchasing decisions. :)

gildedgecko posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 12:49 PM

I agree, and if I'd not had the previous experience with 'storewide' sales, I'd be somewhat befuddled, too. I don't understand the reasoning behind it, though. Why NOT include those recently released items in the addtional discount? In this case, only PC members get it, so it should be part of the membership perk. They didn't ask me though. g

RHaseltine posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 1:05 PM

One reason for excluding may be practical - people who had bought at 20% (or whatever) off would then exercise their 28-day refund option and buy afresh at 35% off, snowing the team under.

gildedgecko posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 1:11 PM

Wouldn't that apply to ANY purchase made within the last 28 days? Not just sale items? So if someone wanted to do that, they would do it, whether the item was purchased at a lesser discount or at full price.

3-DArena posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 1:35 PM

Gee, my newsletter does not say anything abut the PC items being .99 at all. Nor could I find the info on the release of Michael 3.0 in any recent newsletters.

I am sorry for any confusion regarding the brokered artists items already on sale, we leave the items on sale that were already on sale so as to avoid complication and to avoid devaluing existing sales.

The email that was sent out contained several links to this page which explains in much more detail the rest of the issues that several of you have been confused about. Please click here to find out more:

Thanks! Hope you enjoy the sale.

PS: Peng, I'm back now, got back in town Thursday. ;)

If you go in the PC you will see that some (not all) of the items are priced at .99. As for the release date of M3 you must click the more info link in the e-mail as if you wanted to sign up to get all the details and the M3 announcement.

One last quick question then, to whom and when are the $5.00 vouchers given out?

gildedgecko posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 1:49 PM

More questions: If we renew NOW, rather than in October when our subscription expires, do we start getting the vouchers now, or in October? If now, will we continue to get the vouchers until our subscription expires NEXT October? (I'm going to renew for the year, not monthly). Just curious. Can't afford to renew right NOW, as I just spent a bundle on sale stuff :-)

SKondris posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 2:03 PM

Attached Link: http://www.daz3d.com

The $5 vouchers are given out the moment you sign up for the Platinum Club membership and then on the first day of each month. They are good for the duration of the month they are granted to you in. If you are a veteran member, you will begin to get vouchers the day you renew. Now, if you renew your subscription early, it will cost you, Gildegecko. If you renew today, then yes, you'll start receiving the $5 vouchers, but your membership will then expire a year from today, not a year from your previous membership purchase date. So, do not renew early, I don't think it would be in your best interest. ;) If you don't do anything, your Platinum Club Membership will renew automatically on the day of your expiration date and you'll begin to be charged $7.95 a month to stay a member. If you wish to renew under the annual payment plan, it will cost you a single purchase at $69.95. The renewal product is not live in our store yet, so if you try to renew buying the Annual Membership product right now, it will charge you $99.95. Let me know how else I can help. Steve Kondris DAZ Productions, Inc.

pendarian posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 2:05 PM

Steve, then I hate to be a stickler about things and no gildendgecko, I don't understand why they don't include all of the brokered items either...but then you all need to change your wording about the sale because it states "ALL Brokered products storewide" not "All but the newest releases" Personally I don't think it would devaluate the current sales, I think they would actually sell more, but that's just the consumer in me talking. :) Sorry to be a PITA, but you do need to change the wording, otherwise, someone might demand that you live up to what you have promised and printed :) Pendy

SKondris posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 2:09 PM

Yes, I agree with you Pendarian, in the end, the brokered artists who participate in the storewide sales always make more money, some of them do not agree with us however. I am sorry that our newsletter did not clarify that the 35% discount on Brokered Artist products is only for items that were not already on sale. We've updated that now. Thanks for your understanding, Steve

pendarian posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 2:12 PM

:) The Platinum Club for me has been wonderful :) I have enjoyed almost all of it's content LOL!!! And the additional savings is a good thing. I read on the site that the average customer spends $250 a year at Daz....LOL!!! Boy I'm WAY above average...it scares me :)

sandoppe posted Fri, 01 August 2003 at 2:16 PM

I'm glad Steve Kondris clarified the "bonus pack" thing. I joined around Christmas of last year. It sounds like I will get the bonus pack when I renew. The sale thing I pretty much got the drift of. It always bugs me a bit when I make a purchase and then the item goes on sale a couple of weeks later.....but that can happen anywhere. Memberships, on the other hand, should not benefit new members more than others. Any incentives should benefit all members equally and encourage new people to join. The Platinum club has been a great bargain. I'm glad I joined when I did as I know I've saved a bundle on DAZ original creations and special items. Glad to hear I can expect to get the bonus pack as well :)

The way I see, it I got a 50% discount on PC membership when it was first offered. That's a savings of about 50 bucks right off the bat. For this reason, I won't complain about not getting the bonus "stuff" in lieu of renewal. I plan on renewing, and will wait patiently. However, I want some of that stuff, so I won't complain if it becomes available to those of us who were flagship members prior to renewal time, either [big grin.] Hey DAZ, howzabout some more M3 sneek peeks? :-)

Catlin, All Paypal payments are now processed automatically via paypal at DAZ. In order to place an order via Paypal. First, select Paypal as your payment method. Then, finalize your orde by clicking on the "Place My Order" button. This will then bring you to a page that has a link saying "Please click here to complete your Paypal payment." This will bring up a page showing your OPEN order and a "BUY NOW" button will appear, click on this button and then you will be taken directly to the paypal website where you can finish your transaction. After that, you will be brought back to the DAZ site and can start enjoying the benefits of your new Platinum Club Membership. ssalter posted Sat, 02 August 2003 at 3:40 PM

PayPal can certainly handle recurring payments but I really don't see where DAZ specifically states that you can use PayPal for monthly recurring payments. You would either need to have enough of a balance in your PayPal account, or have your PayPal account setup with a credit card. Most debit cards are also credit cards and work well in this situation. That still doesn't answer your question. I really don't know if DAZ has things setup on their end to deal with recurring payments on a monthly basis via PayPal. If they aren't then it isn't difficult for them to set up. Keep calling...hopefully someone there will get back to you soon. I imagine they are overloaded with calls though. This happens to DAZ a lot, usually everytime they announce something. The info they provide either is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous. Not that I am dissing DAZ so much. Their website is really usuable now whereas it was a horror in the past. They provide a great clearinghouse for the Poser community...and I'm off to their site right now to see if there is anything I might wanna buy! Steve

SKondris posted Sat, 02 August 2003 at 3:44 PM

The monthly Platinum Club Membership CANNOT be purchased with Paypal. There is no way for us to do an automatic debit on your paypal account currently, so if you can only pay via Paypal, then you'll need to purchase the annual membership. It costs more upfront, but over the course of the year it will be less money. Currently, there's a small bug with the annual membership product, so it's been deactivated until our programmer can get it going again, it should be up by Monday afternoon, if not later today. Thanks, Steve DAZ Productions, Inc.

SKondris posted Sat, 02 August 2003 at 3:46 PM

:) I can't believe that I have to hit PgDn 13 times to get to the bottom of the page that talks about how wonderful the Platinum Club is. Sheesh, just summarize it at the top and give us all a break! :) Oh, TrekkieGrrrl? At the very bottom of that inordinately long page detailing the wonders of the Platinum Club, there is some small print I just noticed. **Platinum Club Membership available in two payment plans: (1) Pay a one-time start up fee of $29.95 and 11 monthly payments of $7.95 thereafter in order to maintain membership privileges. (2)Pay a one time annual fee of $99.95 for 12 months of membership. Renewal fees are not required for option (1). To renew under option (2) a one time fee of $69.95 is required for an additional 12 months of membership. Acceptable payment methods for option (1) are VISA, MC, Discover, or AMEX. Paypal, check or money order, Discover, or AMEX are acceptable payment methods for option (2) (VISA and MC are not accepted for option (2)). *30% Discount only good on DAZ Original Items. Not good on resell, brokered, or platinum club items. Thus, I would bet that DAZ hasn't set things up properly to accept recurring payments via PayPal. You can't use a Visa or Mastercard for a yearly payment? shakes head in disbelief I'd love to learn what the rationale is behind their payment methodology. They'd probably make more money if they just simplified...set things up with PayPal for recurring payments, accepted all major credit cards, and so on. I used my Visa when I signed up for a year. hmm. Steve

Your statement on your site says: (2)Pay a one time annual fee of $99.95 for 12 months of membership.....(VISA and MC are not accepted for option (2) Although, it would make sense that you absorb more charges on monthly transactions with VISA and MC rather than annual, but you are disallowing VISA and MC on annual memberships...at least according to your info. Hey Steve, I made the left screenshot 8/5/2003 you see Sarah was 35 % on sale ;) I noticed you changed the end of sale to 8/13/2003 (right screen). So the system has beaten you a few hours ;)

Is that a correct example: Sarah Spriteling is 20% on Sale 8/4/2003 end the sale, I purchase Sarah Spriteling on 8/5/2003 and get 35% off. ?

No, Anything that is currently on it's own sale, will not be part of the storewide sale once it's current sale ends. The current sale is the best price it will be at.

Noticed that too. It appears they still have a few bugs to work out of their page. Right now, there's quite a few preview images that are "Image not available". BTW, still waiting for Mimic 1.0. ~DM
