I love these!!! I'm not on the LaRoo bandwagon so I thought I wouldn't have anything to spend money on this week, but you didn't let me down. The Southwestern theme is wonderful. Any hope you'll add the Pueblo style house in the background? Thank you, thank you, thank you! My bank account, however, is moaning.
judith posted Wed, 06 August 2003 at 8:46 AM
Hi Dialyn! You'll be seeing alot of Southwest products over the next few weeks, from architecture, to atmosphere, and quite a bit more, this has been in the works for a while... we're putting the finishing touches on everything now. Glad we could pique your interest! :)))

Well, I didn't indulge in the Xurge 3D's V3 Mariachi Bundle because I didn't have a way of using them...but it looks like I'm going to have to go back and pick them up if you are going to continue having some Southwest themed items. I love the change of pace.

Does this Saguaro have "arms" you can rescale separately - and move up and down? (didn't see this info on the RDNA page) The Saguaro models I have now are all static props and I have been very frustrated in trying to make a group of them (they often grow in groups) - with different looks to them. There are only so many times you can rotate the model in one scene! If not in this pack, perhaps in the higher-res pack that comes out later? (Pretty please!!) :-) thanks -dg
MachineClaw posted Wed, 06 August 2003 at 11:50 AM
Great! Now can we get a sand dune landscape pack to go with it?? really like the Joshua Tree's those are really acurate, would love to see dead versions (there are lots of dryed out dead ones in the desert). Used to live near Joshua Tree National Monument, your pack is so nice. great desert packs!

Anybody at RDNA or Rosity know what a "xoconostle" is? :-) THANK YOU!

xoconostle posted Wed, 06 August 2003 at 12:20 PM
The more high-res cacti and succulents, the better. I'll buy 'em all!
judith posted Wed, 06 August 2003 at 2:25 PM
Hi All! I hope I've got all these questions and thanks in order here....
Dialyn - Xurge's Mariachi's are great!
Brent, Linda, and xoconostle - Thank you!
Spit - Take your time Hun, it's not going anywhere, we promise.
L.J - These are static props, but the Saguaro you have in mind is in the works.
MachineClaw - Check here and here, there are at least two more MicroCosm Badlands and desert style expansions in the works also.

I know?! The buildings have just GREAT textures. (I can tell that's my Judith! ;) pg
dialyn posted Fri, 08 August 2003 at 5:33 PM
And the RuntimeDNA newsletter freebie is a ladder that goes with them. I have bought them up. I wasn't, wasn't, wasn't going to buy anything this week but these are just too much fun. I love the buildings...I don't think there is anything like them anywhere. Really give a nice feel...and it doesn't hurt that I actually live in a 1920 house that was built in a similar style. :)
judith posted Fri, 08 August 2003 at 5:41 PM
Oh Dialyn, I'm glad you like them! Twasn't I doing the textures this time, it was nikitacreed, and I must say they are outstanding! I just did the Poser prep on this pack. I will be putting a more painterly style of textures in for Real Deals this week The ones on the cacti promo) if I can get it packaged up here. :)

So cute. I love the flowers. So many people don't know how beautiful cacti flowers are. I'm glad it's pay day this week! By the way, if you ever get stuck in the desert, remember cactus are a source of water. I learned that from a Lone Ranger comic years and years ago (I am how old?) and never forgot it. Never got stuck in the desert either, but I figured it might come in use some day. Who says comics aren't educational?
Spit posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 12:43 PM
LOL Dialyn. I could tell stories about how the cardboard printed with wilderness tips between Shredded Wheat layers saved my 6-year-old-butt a few times on Mt Rainier! I was always wandering off by myself for hours 'cause I loved it so much. Drove my parents crazy but I always got back. :) Another fantastic addition to the Southwest series! Wowsers!
dialyn posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 12:54 PM
:) And parents think kids all their time reading junk. Heck, Popeye was the only reason I ate spinach (don't ask why I liked Popeye...I watched the Three Stooges too and I'm pretty sure nothing educational came out of that). It has been 100 degrees plus this weekend in my little part of the Southwest...this series has fit right in. I wonder if there are any sarapes in the works? Red chili pepper wall hangings? Little coyotes? Yeah, I'm greedy.

Wow! Gawd, I love you folks at RDNA!!!! Oh, thanks for the reminder, Dialyn. VIP has coyote morphs for the wolf!! But serapes and sombrero would be good. Gotta hunt down a battered rusty pickup too. LOL Don't forget the donkey morphs by Lyne for the poser horse..I think they're at Planit3d. Shades of Brighty (?) of the Grand Canyon (if that don't bring back memories nothing would). And VIP's chickens poking around. Heh. Oh, and I think LaRoo in the dragon armor would make a stunning chupacabra! LOL
dialyn posted Mon, 11 August 2003 at 2:20 PM
Oh, yes, you're right about the coyote morphs. VIP has the best beasties and birds. I think the chickens might be doomed, however, when the coyote comes out to play. Lots of possibilities for trouble in this series. :) Maybe some turquoise and silver jewelry too? I could swear I've seen some somewhere.

And all the free items to complement the series too...just incredible. You folks rock!! Between this series and LaRoo and all the other great stuff you've put out, I don't think there will be a render from me for a long time to come that doesn't include your stuff! Thanks guys!
judith posted Thu, 28 August 2003 at 10:12 PM
Thanks so much you two! Dialyn, I'm hoping there's some clothing support from some of our (entire community) talented clothing makers. Personally, I'd love to see all the NA tribes traditional garb represented. When I asked a few clothing makers why they've never tackled autentic NA clothing, the answer was that it was too niche. It's up to us as customers to let them know that if they'd build it, we'd be interested. So here's crossing my fingers :)) Spit, i'm looking forward to seeing you results, I know they will be stunning! ~j~

Sometimes the niche is created by people knowing something is available. I hope people will look around and see Poser doesn't have to be as limited as it has been...the world is a big place and there are a lot of interesting people in it that have never been represented. This is a great step in the right direction. :)

Hey, the most popular outfits even in the Southwest are jeans and t-shirts. :) Last time I checked, there were plenty of those available.

I completely missed the fact that RDNA has free lights to go with the desert scene. Not to mention some other wonderful lights too for other scenes. I find something new for my collection every time I visit. What a nice, complete package this is. Spit, I wasn't as interested in modern Southwest dress as some more traditional folk dress. But I know I'm a limited market of one so I don't expect a miracle. I'm off to play with my lights.
