Hi all, I am posting this here because it has to do with our newest model that will be for sale - The Second Haunted House, it will be released sometime tomorrow. I have a few things to fix on it so it is just perfect for you all, you should see it....oh you can't....ha ha....tomorrow for sure. Anyway, we said we would hold one more contest where you could get your chance to win this new model so here it is.... If you guess the actualy time it took to create this Second Haunted House model object file (not the textures or anything else) just the time it took to get the raw model completely done you will win this model. Please post here in this thread any guesses. You get 3 chances each to guess. We want the hours, minutes and seconds. The first one that answers correctly wins. We will annouce the winner as soon as there is one. If we don't have an exact winner by 16:00 CST (Renderosity time tomorrow), we will choose the person closest to the answer as the winner. Please if any of you are confused with anything regarding this contest ask now. Okay, good luck and let the guessing begin...... Sharen

I'll answer your question if you can answer mine. I just made an absolutely AMAZING model, but I can't show it to you. I can't even give you details on how big it is, what I used to make it, or how many poly's it has. I want YOU to guess exactly how much time, to the SECOND, it took me to make it. Remember, I'm not even going to throw you a bone. No hints, no nothing. For all you know it could have taken me hours, or just 3 seconds by importing it via kazaa... but I can't tell you. Really! But I want you to guess how long it took to make it!!! You realize how ridiculous this is? Sell the damned model and go on with your life. Don't take this personally or whatever, I just don't consider this a contest. I just feel that my intelligence was horribly offended. Mihnea

AprilYSH posted Fri, 08 August 2003 at 8:05 AM

lol draculaz, it's a pot luck contest. It's just for fun and folks here do it all the time. I find it highly amusing you would let that "horribly offend" your "intelligence." Go on with your life, don't take this personally or whatever. Cheers for the new item Sharen and Mike :) I guess your cad magic weaved it in 1 hour 13 minutes. ;)

Mihnea, have a look at www.sams3d.com, look how the models of houses they create generally looks. And then just do a guess. This is a play, not something serious, so take it as a play:-)

Lunaseas posted Fri, 08 August 2003 at 8:13 AM

6hours, 6minutes, 6 seconds......just cause 666 seemed like a good number for a haunted house:)

The house was shown on another thread. Scroll down, and you'll see it. It's wonderful. And I agree with the rest, lighten up. SAMS3D is one of the most generous members of this community. No need to take this contest that seriously.

SAMS3D posted Fri, 08 August 2003 at 8:37 AM

Actually you can figure this out....from the very first post regarding this specific house...and when I posted the preview. Mihnea, I am sorry you feel this is ridiculous, and I never ment to offend your intelligence, AprilYSH is correct in saying this is really just pot luck and a game to play for Friday. I guess I could have worded this differently so not to have taken your time and again I am sorry, I didn't think that this was going to cause a problem with anyone. Sharen You all need a hint....start again....it did go over at least 24 hours.

I think that you have made a mistake in your post. Most of the time it is amusing to see you rant and rave. But I truely feel that you harsh critisism is totally uncalled for and you owe Sharon an apology here. You are still young but I think that its time you adopt some social skills and ediquette. There are times where your harshness is appropriate but then there are times like this when you are dealing with a kind hearted, generous (extremely generous) person when you should ask for clarification in a polite way. Of course if you cannot make a genuine apology then don't bother. If you see nothing wrong in what you have said so be it. Sincerely, Angela

OK, I'm game :) As far as I can tell it took Mike less than 4 days from start to finish (he's supposed to have started on July 7 and you posted the first preview on July 11 :). Not knowing the time zone you are on, nor the amount of time you need for sleep, I'd guess that it took from 50h to 70h. Keeping in mind that it is a haunted house, 66h 6m feels appropriate :) Jon PS Awesome Work - Kudos to both of you :)

I'll have to employ a scientific process for these guesses. Let's see: 2 weeks to make, sleeping 8 hours a day, watching sports average of 10 hours per week, 42 meals (20 minutes each), and some quality time with Sharen (1 hour per day), that leaves about 175 hours...but some of that time is texturing, so I'll whittle it down to: (1) 155 hours Last picture I saw of Sharen, she looked to be about 31. Since 3 is my lucky number, I'm going to round this guess to: (2) 33 hours Finally, Sharen posted this message on 8/8...so, I'll guess (as my third guess): (3) 88 hours THERE! Pure science!

Okay, we have a winner.....it is Parkie with 47 hours, 36 minutes and 25 seconds, you are the closest....the actual was 47 hours, 35 minutes and 15 seconds....great guess, so you will get our Haunted House for free. And it is now ready for release....here are a few screen shots I did today, but it can be changed with the materials....we have 2 different exteriors, wood or brick....you get them both. Fully textured inside and fully poseable.....Congrats again to Parkie. Thanks for playing. Sharen :-)

You can take all the walls off, roof etc to place your characters and props...poseable doors and window doors....very gooly wallpaper of goblins, ruby red carpet, stained glass depending on how you set the transparency...also next week we will add the transparency maps for the broken glass, didn't have time to finish it yet. Love the lights from behind....remember we will add texture maps to this house and post them on the products page for easy download, these will come next week, this week we are adding some lights that have been created by soth and labeled texture templates for download. Sharen

Thanks Catlin and no I am not psychic nor am I luckly.... well except for this competition. I am usually most unlucky. So much so that I only buy new things as they have a warrenty. :) Hi Sharen, Thanks , I like the lights at the back but I am not sure on the rest. I will look forward to the extra bits. Now I am trying to sort out the house's owners. :) Have fun Neil

Thank you SothArtist, I am pleased you like it. I do like this type of atmosphere. In case you were wondering it was created in Vue d'Esprit. Cheers Neil
