Looks fantastic!! Could you post another one with a better view of the trouser leg?
_dodger posted Sat, 09 August 2003 at 4:55 AM
Not right now -- I'm making the other one.

Looking VERY good!! The UV mapping on the trousers has turned out very well, I can't see any distortions except for the top of the left leg!! :-)

top of the left leg Where?! I'll kill it! B^) Only place I see any is a little teensy bit on the top of one of the folds at the bottom of the right leg -- which is durn near impossible to get rid of (I've tried).

hmm..most of the Japanese armour I've seen is darker; either an iron-color, or lacquered (sp?) bamboo or wood..but this still works..;) thought the original posting was the 'half-off' trouser sale..;) keep at it, would love to see the ending..;)

_dodger, it looks so cool, and I am in awe that the mapping has been so good. Yes the armour is very shiny, but I am not sure this is the final texture, is it? That on the shins could be bamboo? Sorry for my ignorance about samurai armour G Whatever it is it looks GREAT!

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Pakled and TG: The armour isn't textured at all. L That's the raw material. It's not even UVMapped properly yet. I am going to rework it slightly so there is a just-barely-pushed (Max Push modifier, inflate basically) surface over the lamellar so that I can have a reflection map on the metal parts without that reflection map on the silk lacings. The lamellar was normally iron, brass, or bronze plates laced together with silk and lacquered to protect against rust, making it an odd material setting -- basically a normally reflective metal but with a smaller highlight to portray the more plasticky effect of resin laquer. I'm also going to subdivide the shouldermapads (osode) so that they can be stiff as above or floppy, as this varied from synasty to dynasty (actually in the later dynastys the square osode went away altogether, and I MAY (not sure yet) add a seperate type of osode as an option for those. The sune ate on the shins are made from metal splints banded together with more metal to provide very solid protection for the otherwise vulnerable shin and hamstring area. I gave them a brassy metallic material for the preview, and I'll see what looks best before release.

Oh, that's not texture distorition. It IS a place where I need to provide a morph to avoid the leg going throught he waidate though, because that SHOULD be under metal B^)
