Haven't I read threads here where people were using 6000x6000 texture images for Poser 5? And I don't remember having this problem in the past with large images. My system is beefy enough to run Poser 5 two times and still have resources to render an animation in Cinema 4D and I have no clue about this limitation. The texture image is 4096x4096 jpg, but when I browse and select the image, it errors with "Images wider than 4096 are not supported". System specs: Dual 2.66GHz Xeons 2GB memory 3x80GB HDD Windows XP Pro SP1 Poser 5 SR3 Thanks, Kuroyume

Your the secound person to have that happen with the SR3 Patch for Poser 5. raven in this thread complains about the same thing. I'm running the last SR2 patch for Poser 5 and I can load 6000x6000 textures, it does slow things down but it loads them with no error message and renders. I have a feeling that they put a limit on it in the SR3 patch for some reason. Poser 5 was supposed to run larger textures.Jaager posted Sun, 10 August 2003 at 3:11 AM
Hit CTRL Y and look at what your maximum texture resolution is See if setting it higher helps.

Mazak darling where you change this????? I can render 6000 without limits in Poser pro pack but Poser5 as above don't allow me to render textures in 4096 resolution too.. only 4000 max.. do I have to change the name of the textures or the mat?? I need some coffee.. Help!! do I have to make a new Mat? or how this works.. explain step by step..

Hi Cath, Yes for sure I created the raimy texture new to 6000 pixel (for test). Rename the texture and edit (your) mat-pose. ;-) Now it works for P5 also. Mazak

so you try to tell me that if I rename and resize a textures and in place of nikita I use Nikita6000.jpg and rename the mat it will works in poser5 too? nah that is simple but how come you on this idea.. as I say always simple is beautiful.. thank you and I run to test this and will let you know! Cath

There is always a backdoor for cracks ;-) Btw. Don't forget before you render the picture set in 'Render Options' the 'Max Texture Resolution' to 6000 pixel! Mazak

Yes, sirkrite, that's the thread I was thinking about (couldn't find it last night)! Oh, this is a sucky thing. Why did they do this? I regularly create textures 4096x4096 or larger. So, since this is caused mainly when testing my creations, the workaround would be to import my Wavefront objects, add them as props or characters to the Library, and edit the PP2 or CR2 to include the offending textures there? Or must it be in a MAT pose? Thanks Mazak and everyone for refreshing me on this information and possible solutions. Kuroyume

Nice to know somebody found a workaround to the SR3 texture limit. :)

Mazak - quick question - from her last post, I beleive Cath is under the impression that you have to change the filename by adding "6000" to the end for this to work - is this true? Cath - my interpretation is that Mazak is saying that even though the Material Room will not apply a large texture, you can still apply the texture with a MAT pose (without having to use the material room but I can't see how filename has anything to do with it. Since I haven't tried it, Mazak will have to confirm the part about the filename.

Rename the new texture to what you want! I use 6000 in name only to find the texture quick. Mazak

Yeap I know.. I had a blonde moment before my first coffee.. hahaha I shame me.. I spend many weeks with the resolutions and not get this working in Poser5 however works in Pro pack as well.. so I aggree that using MAT IT WILL WORKING AS WELL.. another stupid thing that somebody set up in Poser5.......................... and more
ronstuff posted Sun, 10 August 2003 at 6:24 PM
LOL, Cath, as long as you keep making those fantastic textures, you can have all the Blond Moments you want! Your work is nothing less than amazing.
