I recently uploaded a few images. I went to read the comments today and a couple of my graphics looked "changed". Like they had been severely compressed and resaved (pixelated and blotchy). They looked normal before so I'm pretty sure I uploaded them correctly. I noticed the same thing on a couple other images that belong to someone else. Can anyone enlighten me on what happened? Thanks :)

I just checked my gallery and apparently all my images have been changed...including the old stuff. Should I be concerned? :(

They all look fine to me on my end, but then again I'm looking at your pics for the first time, nothing to compare it to. But, to me they look good to go. Yet, your pic "Nostalgia" is not there, the thumb is, but not the full sized pic. That could be a server hiccup, if it doesn't re-appear at some point, "edit" that upload via the link underneath the thumbnail and re-upload that pic. (This will not affect your comments/rankings, etc.) AgentSmith

And, even you Nostalgia pic not appearing could also just be my end of the www. I've seen weirdness like that before. Rare but it happens. Check it to make sure, though. Also, be sure to flush your temporary internet cache, etc. Ya never know, with these "perfect" browsers we use, lol. AS

Thanks for checking for me. :) Must be a technical glich somewhere. Hopefully only temporary. I'll flush my cache and see if that helps. Thanks again!

Hmmm...I think something's wrong with my browser. Other graphics on other websites look weird too. I emptied the cache...no help. My settings are the same as always for my desktop...not sure what happened with my browser. God, I hope it's not a virus. :( Guess I should move on to the technical help forum, LOL. Thanks again.

Everything looks fine to me except for Nostalgia, which is awol. I don't see any excessive compression artefacts on your other images.

IndigoSplash, what browser are you using, check and see if there is a "use compressed graphics" switch in the settings.

Oh, and if you are, (or if anyone is reading this is) using AOL, I strongly suggest browsing webpages via the Internet Explorer browser ONLY. (or whatever browser you are using) Don't look at webpages through your AOL program screen if you can at all help it. There are still issues with viewing pages thrugh AOL...you would have that all ironed out by now... ALSO, if anyone is using the new Internet Explorer 6, by default this new browser resizes pages to fit your screen resolution, which can make pictures (especially larger ones) look subtly pixelated/blotchy/etc. I HATE this feature and it can be turned off through "Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Enable Automatic Image Resizing". It's a neat idea if you want any/every webpage to fit your screen resolution/size, but it can affect the quality of pictures of the variety you would see here at Renderosity... AgentSmith

Does it do the same when the pages are smaller than you screen res? That would suck too.

No, they should stay the same size, they shouldn't stretch. (I don't believe) It's mainly for webpages that were made for 1024x768, but is being viewed at 800x600, etc. AgentSmith

I am at 1280x1024 but really want to bump to 1600x1200 (have to change my monitor to do that though) My girlfriend uses 800x600 though (I'll never understand that...) (grin) Thanks for the info!

I'm using IE 6. I tried messing around with the image resize thing under tools but nothing happened. I downloaded updates at microsoft, rebooted, images still screwed up. Downloaded virus updates, rebooted, images were back to normal...but no viruses were found. I don't know what was causing it, but I'm glad it's back to normal again. Hopefully it will stay that way. I appreciate the suggestions from everyone. Thanks a bunch. :)
