Several things: Firstly, I just wanted to thank everyone who'd commented / rated / or even just looked at my pictures. Secondly, I also wanted to thank those who replied to my messages regarding the Time Machine - I probably would have given up by now if it wasn't for the encouragement, especially from those people on here who's talents I am extremely envious of ;o) 3. Here's the actual problem - I've got to model a chair for my Time Machine pic. It's extremely complex and I'm not a very good modeller (at all!) - all I have is a few drawings and photos Any clues as to where to begin? Can I post a link to the drawings? I'm just basically after advice. Thanks, Mark.

Sure, post a link, post where you're currently at, and maybe I might have a go at it, too, never thought of doing that. I'll give you any advice I'm able to, but from what I saw, you're doing quite well.

Haven't actually started the chair yet - it's a bit daunting (and anyways I got a few things to do before that)... Be warned - the drawings are small and the photos aren't much help ;o) Attached link is to the drawings. Link to photos: http://www.colemanzone.com/Time_Machine_Project/dw_chair.htm Also a guy built a model and has lots of good photos: http://www.colemanzone.com/Time_Machine_Project/r_cooper(2).htm Thanks for even looking at them!AgentSmith posted Sat, 23 August 2003 at 7:00 PM
Holy Guacamole! That's detailed, lol. Looks like its time for ya to tackle the Terrain Editor, to some extent. Hmmm...some of the best sites I had saved for terrain/lattices tutorials are not there any more...will try to find others. AgentSmith

Thanks AS - I had a feeling I was going to need to use terrains - I was originally thinking of modelling the thing in primitives and then using negative terrains to carve parts out. Appreciate your help :o)

This looks like becoming one heck of a project. I wish you luck! I love the fact that someone actually built this. I can't wait to see the finished product. You've done great so far with you 'engine', keep up the good work.

I try to use as much primitive booleaning as possible, but some more organic type shapes can really only be done as a Terrain/Lattice. Same goes for your chair (imo), I see a lot of shapes that can be done with primitives, but the decorative pieces scream for the terrain editor. AS

Thanks Bryster & AS - guess I'd better just jump in the deep end then :o)

If I can find a couple of (really great) tutorials I'm looking for, I'll post up the links here. I hope the sites aren't gone. AS

You have certainly taken on quite a task. However, it will be quite rewarding to see the finished product. Keep on going with it. You have done an excellent job with this project so far. I am anxious to see what you have when you are finished. 8) BTW, if you want some different primitives to work with along with the default Bryce primitives you can find a bunch of different shapes at 3D Commune in the freebie downloads. I just picked up a bunch of them a couple of nights ago from there. ~ Wade ~

You could make some of the flourishes with Elafont. Diane

Wade - thanks for the 3D Commune info Diane - good idea! I already use Elefont for other things (as well as their other product, Spiralizer)
