Does anyone know of any tutorials for creating a gun shot blast in an animation? I've attached a picture of a gun shot blast I created in Paint Shop Pro. It look ok when it flashes on the screen during an animation but I'd like to create something more realistic. Thanks Nivek

There's a program called Particleillusion that is being given away on DIGIT mag CD...mag cost about $14 in US.... $99 on the product website... Unforntunately, I ran around all over town tonigh and couldn't find Digit anywhere.

I have a flame prop in the Free Stuff Club at PoserPros, which might make an adequate muzzle-flash if parented to the gun. You can keyframe the prop's scale to make it appear and disappear at an appropriate moment during the animation.

here is a litle trick you can try, create a block prop and set it to white then take an avi file of a gun flash or explosion and use the avi as the texture it should work

also try alamdv at www.alamdv.com. Nice post work program and its like $68. I use it for lightning bolts, particle beams, sparks explosions etc.

That's western .44 in the pic so the flash is pretty close to reality since the powder used in them burns slower than that used in modern guns. So the will be a muzzle blast although it would be more a blast of greyish smoke with only flecks of red in that lighting, the red/yellow flash would appear only on much lower lighting. Ratteler, Muzzle blast does not equate to how hard the bullet is going hit, a .38 coming out of a 1 inch barrel with a 3 in. muzzle flash will hit just as hard as one from a 6 in barrel with very little flash.

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

This took me about 1/2 hour to render as a Gif file. It really took longer to save in Poser4 as a AVI then anything else. I used a program called "Alam" which is not free but as a registered member, you can download any new updates (Plug-ins) you want for free. I apologize if my effects are not "realistic", and as much as my Husband is a fancier of "black-powder" stuff, you would think I could remember exactly what it looks like when it goes off! LOL! But, as many times I have seen it.......all I can remember is the smoke! (: Anyway, go check it out........it is really easy to use and it is under a hundred bucks.......last I checked anyways.
