I was talking about a myst file I had from Lannie's 3D Modelworld in an earlier message. This was a simple version of the entire Myst Island in Bryce 4 format. My hard drive crashed a couple of years ago. I just discovered the back-up disk I had the file on is scratched and unreadable. Lannie's is closed now and David at internet eye says they don't have any files from the site. Do any of our members remember the original contributor or have a copy of the file? Thanks for any info:)

I know what you are talking about and never downloaded that map from Lannie's site. Wish I could help ya out but I can't. If I happen to find it I will certainly let you know.

Unfortunately I don't have that mesh. I'll keep an eye out for it though.

Be careful with that meshes... I've got some unfriendly mail from Cyan after creating my Myst(ical) Pavilion. They accused me of copyright theft, but even as I answered their mail as quick as possible, they never were able (or wanted to) clear that situation. Just a bunch of ***holes. So, take care. Just checked my backups-no readme with the file, so no idea who did it. Arleen

That's too bad Jimi. I had a similar experience with ID. I had just become editor for the PC Register. A local newsletter for the East Tennessee Computer Society. We had 650 members and a circulation of about 5000. I was setting up the October/Halloween issue and wanted to do a general scary stuff issue including games like Doom. I read their website and decided to send them a right back at you mayhem in-your-face email. I got the typical Lawyers reply (... Trademark.. ahem... copyright protection... No!) It's funny how a company will put on a young hellraser face and still be full of 3-piece suits on the inside. I contacted Corel with a Dear Sir, Business approach and Carol came to Knoxville for the club meeting, put on a presentation and even gave away two copies of Corel draw. Of course they also sold a box-full that night. Fan Art can generate significant interest and sales especially for older products. Treating fans poorly can cause a wave of underground bad publicity. It can significantly affect sales and be hard to identify and counter once it starts. I remember Ren and Stempy went on a campaign to wipe out fan sites and wave files. They did, but have you ever even heard of Ren and Stempy? The Simpsons are a lot loser about it and they've been on for years.

I have a br4 file of myst island, not sure if this is the one you need. the file is about 6mb in size, can't remember where it came from. Take a look at the pic and see if it's the one.
