I threw together this little flyer in Wings3D in about 20 minutes just prcticing a few commands. The plane is made entirely from a single sphere. If you haven't tried wings yet I recommend it. It gets easier and easier to use and I can model some things quite quickly that would take me much longer with booleans. I was also particularly pleased with the ground plane here. The photo was apparently large enough to not show tiling too badly on an infinite plane. I may still have the link to the photo, an internet freebie, or if anyone would like it I can just email it along. Enjoy.

you could make that model out of a a simple 2D plane if you wanted to. All you need in wings is at least 2 vertecies and a bit of work :)

Zhann - here's how to make a human out of a box (with a bit of work). Its for Lightwave, not bryce, but its a good demonstration of a modelling technique.

Been making people's heads using metaballs for Apathetic Labs and its not easy. Box modeling seems to be a way to go.

welcome to the club..you got further in 20 minutes than I did..;) I guess it's just the path that leads you to Wings that sets the style..I almost never 'box model'..but I came from Strata and Bryce to Wings..
