I went into my usual photo store (the one where I used to work - for some 13 years....about 7 years ago) and asked for a roll of Provia. (I had a small job to shoot for a client - no big deal...a machine they wanted for an ad). i didn't bother to look at the roll they gave me - but once I got to the shoot - i noticed they had given me Provia 400 (wanted Provia 100 - didn't even know they'd come out with a "400" speed film). Went back to trade it in - and there was no Provia 100 - there was no Velvia - had to settle for (YUK) Ektachrome 100 - and settled for the icky blue (corrected through Photoshop). Question is - for you film shooters - has it become more difficult to find the "film of your choice?). Wolf

No... not at all for me. Anyway... Provia 400 is a great emulsion... shooted a lot of rolls on medium foprmat and it's one of my favourite... has a really fine grain and it's only a little bit granier than 100 iso... a little chemical miracle... =)

Definitely spotty. Can't ever be sure about finding something specific. And 36 exposure rolls seem to be extinct in the local shops. Good thing I have a big freezer and mail-order. [Digital will eventually win altogether. Only a matter of time.]

I've had problems before, the place I used to buy film no longer sells provia or velvia either as I found out yesterday, so who knows

As Misha said mail-order works.... Adorama and B&H carry pretty much everything .... the lab I've been using doesn't carry Velvia or Portra my 2 fav films.....so I order from Adorama, and I buy the import which is cheaper.... haven't noticed a difference 'cept in costs. As much as I like my digital camera, I can't agree with you about film disappearing. I think both can continue alongside each other peacefully.

Well, that's nothing. I'm paying now about 3 (three!) times the cost that the films had before the beginning of 2002 because of the ecocnomic crisis in my country! F$"k global economix!
