Hi, I'm hoping someone here can help me with a strange error I'm getting when trying to import my figure into Bryce. I recently purchased the Malifica clothing set for V3 and when I export my posed figure as an .OBJ file it won't import into Bryce. I get an error that says "a file error has occoured (i/o bad media). I can import the figure and the clothes separately but not together, and the clothes won't import if they're in certain poses. It's very strange. Has anyone else heard of this problem?

Yes, this is a bug in Poser's exporter. Doesn't happen all the time and I don't think anyone has nailed exactly when it will happen. Used to happen to me only on props, but it happened on a figure the other day. Anyway, there is a fix or two. The problem is Poser puts in some invalid stuff that you can fix with a text editor...Where you see #IND subsitute a 0 (zero). I usually just run the object through Grouper which fixes the problem automatically.dan whiteside posted Sat, 06 September 2003 at 1:36 PM

If you don't have it download UVMapper Classic (free). Load the .OBJ into UVM and turn right around and save it under a new name with the Export defaults. You can also use the free Grouper app which does the same thing: http://www.castironflamingo.com/tutorial/grouper/index.html HTH; Danchohole posted Sun, 07 September 2003 at 1:49 AM
Could also be something as simple as Bryce not liking a texture name. Bryce doesn't like names to be too long. Try renaming your textures.

Bryce imports long texture names okay. It just doesn't like saving 'em out again, like in your project. :(

There's a decent tut on my site about fixing this, under "Tips" http://www.psalmons.co.uk

You guys are awesome! I ran it through Grouper and it imports fine now. Whew! I didn't know about Grouper. What a nice program. Sure beats running through the list of objects trying to find the one you want! Thanks for all your help! :-)
