I was looking at a recent tutorial which mentioned stored trees that came with Bryce and thought I would check this out, It does not seem to work for me, anyone else have this problem? I just get a standard tree popping up. I have an upgrade from Bryce 4 and to my knowledge have all the patches in. My content CD doesn't seem to have anything regarding stored B5 trees. Richard

You have to have the 5.01 patch. And you have to hold down Alt before you click on the tree icon. Get thee and look into the Presets sub-directory under your Bryce directory on the hard disk.

Ooops. Fingers faster than brain. In that subdirectory you should have a directory Trees and inside it are *.bto files. They are tree presets.

I have the patch! Got it about two days after it first came out! I hold down the Alt and click the tree icon in the create strip and all that happens is a regular tree pops up in the scene. Under presets I have Trees (full of .bto files) and Treeshapes/Installed (full of .tps files). What do I do with these?

I have no idea. I tried Open, I tried Merge, I tried Import. I even tried copying the file and then pasting into Bryce. Nothing works except the alt-click. Maybe you should install the patch again.

I am beginning to wonder if the 4-5 upgrade is broken in this regard! Anyone out there with upgrades having this problem?

I got it to work! The secret is to press and hold the Alt key, then click on the tree icon, but DO NOT let go of the Alt key after the click until the .bto load pop-up happens! (about a 1 second lag on my machine for some reason). A much appreciated and Thank you Erlik!

lol...I was reading through the thread wondering if you had found the secret. HOLD the ALT key grasshopper....HOLD it lovingly beneath your finger....ah yes, you have found the wisdom of the ancients. And the trees in there are much better too!!!

I also have not been able to get it to work, but in the tree lab itself, I have tonssssssss of presets on tree shape and leaf shape... will try the hold it, hold it, hold it option....lol When it pops up this selection, does it also get rid of the default bryce tree? Jen
