Just wondering if anyone else is experencing problems with pages loading at Rosity? Going from one page to another or from one section to another seems to be taking forever if they load at all. I'm on DSL and a friend is on cable in another state and he is having the same problems. If other people are having the same problems, why doesn't Rosity do something to fix it?

shazz501 posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 12:22 PM

i'm having the same problem cherokee, some pages are even timing out they take so long,i'm on cable too,so glad its not just me :)

Replicant posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 12:24 PM

I've been having the same sort of problems all day. I reckoned they'd know about it and be fixing it. I can't access my gallery at all. Forum pages open if they feel like it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this uploads ok. I'm on DSL too and its worse than my old dial-up. No problems on other sites though. Anyone else? And er... whats happening?

I meant to mention. I'm not having any problems at any other site I go to (including poser related). It's just Rosity.

SamTherapy posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 12:26 PM

Yup, tis terrible here. Keep getting "Cannot find server" and similar shite. The whole site seems to be as stable as Charles Manson at the moment.

Been noticing the same thing the last three days or so. Even when the number of users is moderate. "Navigation cancelled" and so on.

Sam, the whole site seems to be screwed...everywhere on here is slow and it's been that way for awhile (not just today). Click a link or try to go to another page and it just site there.

PapaBlueMarlin posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 12:33 PM

Yes, I've had the "Navigation cancelled" window too.

Maybe disgruntled vendors have launched a DoS attack? :p

xoconostle posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 12:43 PM

I sure hope not, Berserga. That would be stooping very low indeed, besides being a criminal act.

Blazerwiccan posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 12:50 PM

Same here getting botted, slow loading pages, errors ect. So it is not just you.

sandoppe posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 12:55 PM

Same problems for me as well. Glad to see it's not just me. Gallery bots are the biggest problem. Won't open. Time outs.....everything everyone else noted.

cherokee69 posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 12:59 PM

Good, I'm glad it's not just me. Someone need to fix this..it's getting old and discusting especially when every other site is fast loading. This is almost worse than when I was on dialup.

kayjay97 posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 12:59 PM

yep, same here. I have cable connection and I sit here while it says Waiting on Renderosity. No problems any where else :)

No prblems here (from Germany). I visited the free stuff, the tutorials and this forum. No slow loading, no break down. shrug For what it's worth. Willy

nickedshield posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 1:26 PM

Where I see the slowdown is: transfering data from marketplace.renderosity.com. The longest I've seen has been 230 sec to display a new page. Satellite connection.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

RHaseltine posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 1:40 PM

Same problem here - and currently the Renderosity logo is missing from the header - well it was, just went to screen grab and it was there!

BekaVal posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 1:50 PM

I'm in Germany too, jobcontrol. On DSL. And having problems the whole day and allover the site. It first noticed it this morning, when I tried to load Chohole's link in the Johnny Cash thread. Now it's evening and no better. Something is wrong with Rosity. Maybe they're updating s.th.?

Engel47 posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 2:22 PM

Same in Holland (on cable) - pages timing out - even when I logged in just, I got the "page cannot be displayed" and had to start over!! In the galleries I am getting pages to load but then have no images, just blank spaces with the little red cross in the top left corner. Been like this since late last night.

been really awful for me to..pages not even loading or taking forever to load...reminded me of my ole dial up days...Im on cable.finally got so frustrated, just gave up for a few hours

TrekkieGrrrl posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 3:18 PM

Yup. Slow. Pages timing out. Banners and logos not displaying. Had to try a few times before I got into the page where you upload new market place items. The upload itself went smooth btw when I finally got there, but.. Something is not how it should be. But at the same time.. There are 1500-1700+ members online so it COULD be the cause. I seem to notice that whenever the "members online" is more than 1200 the site starts to get slower, then at 1500 it gets worse and anything above is just ridiculous...

Seems to me wrong configured firewall @renderosity blocking certain types of ICMP packets. Try: ping -l 1465 -f www.renderosity.com

mateo_sancarlos posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 4:01 PM

I hope it's not a DOS attack by disgruntled people, but they may have altered the firewall in anticipation of a DOS attack.

Crescent posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 4:20 PM

Tim had mentioned something earlier about noticing some performance issues and taking a look into them. I haven't heard anything about what might be causing it. Probably just a cranky server. I doubt it's DOS attacks by merchants. The change in certain RMP policies may have people upset but I'd like to think people around here are more ethical than stooping to DOS attacks.

Dizzie posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 4:21 PM

The site is overloaded with customers trying to download their purchase histories before the items get deleted by Merchants removing their stores....LOL

TrekkieGrrrl posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 4:25 PM

Dizzie... you MAY have a point there... Wonder what happens if a merchant closes his/her store? Will the downloads for things we've bought still be there? Or are they taking the customers as hostages?

Dizzie posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 4:54 PM

my guess is it's another way to make money...if they'll charge $10 for the banner ad then I wonder how much they are charging to get your advertisement on the Marketplace front page...:>0

cherokee69 posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 5:47 PM

Banners, making money...shoot, it's all that JUNK on every page that is slowing this thing down. When you go to the gallery, it doesn't just load the thumbnail image, it downloads the full size image. Images, banners, advertising, etc. aren't optomized for web use. I've seen it today run slower with fewer people online than with many. there is a clitch someone within the system and I don't think anyone knows where to look for it.

nightfir posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 6:42 PM

I've noticed this site being slow as well. maybe it's gremlins.

randym77 posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 6:46 PM

Attached Link: Site Slow

There's a thread about this in the Forum News and team contact section. (See link.) They don't seem to know what the problem is. They said they banned certain IP addresses, because they were using software that downloads the entire site. But it hasn't seemed to help the performance any. It's still slow as molasses.

Heck, this is the first I could get in today. I'm used to slow. I'm on dial-up and this site is ALWAYS slow for me compared to others. But I couldn't get anything until now. Guess I better keep my fingers crossed. I'm sure I won't stay in for long.

catlin_mc posted Sun, 14 September 2003 at 8:39 PM

I'm in the UK and all day I've been getting an error page saying "too many connections". Thing is I've been here when many more members have been online and it hasn't been this slow. Do you think it could be a DOS attack, ie. denial of service..............is there a pissed off ex member having a go at the site? Catlin

The same here especially when posting comments.. DNS error or just nothing.. the whole day + half of the night.. ;P

Same problem here. I thought it was my lousy dial-up service which is usually the problem. Even posting messages I'm getting errors and thought it didn't post, but it did. Maybe the internet is slow on account of another virus attack.

The forums and the MP seem to be much better now, but still not as fast as they usually are. The galleries are still horrible. I'm still getting a "web site not found" error message half the time I try to access the galleries. When I do get in, it takes forever.

Blazerwiccan posted Mon, 15 September 2003 at 1:58 PM

Finally got to read this thread the rest of the way though, with the site going to slow hard to load anything. Dizzie I have not cleared anything out of my store. Kamala Lyn is still for sale here and in my store. So not sure what the problem is. Ok now I am getting really worried about all this. If there a reason buyers are not able to download what they have bought? Why is it showing stuff still in the market place as being removed?

Pannyhb posted Mon, 15 September 2003 at 4:02 PM

Thanks for working on this - I had no idea how addicted I was to Renderosity until it became virtually unnavigatable.

Yep, I get that too. I have noticed it bogs down over 1500 surfers, so I assumed it was a server thing. And this is the slowest site I visit--and yes I have dsl:-) Hope they get it ironed out...I wonder if it would help to have some of us with websites to move our gallery images there and link instead of using the Rosity server?
