It all would depend on the price, but given the quality of the pic above, I definitely would be interested !

There are a ton of free materials over at rDNA, and a few nice ones here. I like especially their displaced fur! Lets face it, P5 materials are underused because most P5 users haven't gotten into them. Right, that's why I thought there might be interest in material packages. Enclose a tutorial on P5 material making, and you might just have a winner. That's a great idea!

It really depends on the number and variation. There's plenty of velvet textures, but not a really good satin. Nesh always is a good idea. Different types of metal and stone. Wood. Wood in panels. Special effects are always welcome. P5 materials combined with props for special effects are also good. I use one of the special effects from The3DWizard on a sphere all the time for an interesting background. There are a ton of free materials over at rDNA, and a few nice ones here. If your materials look like those, everyone will pass beause they've already got the free ones. I included a couple of dozen in my Ichiro Fantasy pack (not very good, but interesting). The pack should be large, and divided into differing types for quick access in the library. There should be lots of them. The pack should be cheap. You'll get more sales that way. Lets face it, P5 materials are underused because most P5 users haven't gotten into them. Those that have may be using Vue or Bryce for final renders and using the materials there. Pity that. The P5 material room is the best part of P5. Enclose a tutorial on P5 material making, and you might just have a winner.

You quoted my post before it was posted! Either the 'sity screwed up, or I'm afraid of you. OK, I'm thinking of a number between 1 and 10....

4? I swear I read your post before I wrote my reply, I guess 'rosity did a time warp here.

Muhuhuahuahaha. Fear me. And bring me a 21 year old female supermodel in satin lingerie, I need a reference.

He got it right! It was 4! Quick, the Powerball numbers for next Wends. Huh? Please? And a good Satin material. You're intuitive! I have faith in you!

P5 materail room is the best part of P5, I would love to have them... and would "pay". Niles
Sasha_Maurice posted Sun, 21 September 2003 at 4:48 PM
Yes I would pay for cool-looking materials.
Thorgrim posted Sun, 21 September 2003 at 6:44 PM
What I would pay for is really good tutorial on using the Material Room covering all the nodes and how to use them to obtain simple and special effects. Right Now I more play with the material room and see what I get. Which can be alot of fun but it would be nice if I had a guide like the many of read for using the material editor in MAX.

Yes.....in fact I have purchased P5 materials :) There just aren't many around to choose from. When they're made correctly, they can really be awesome! RDNA has some very good free ones, as one mentioned here. I found some free Metallic ones somewhere, and have never been able to find them again so I could credit their creator (lost the readme). If anyone knows who did them, I would like to know. But, yes Stewer.....you create some good ones and I'll buy them!

I agree with the group that the materials with a guide of how to use and create them would be great. Traveler started a series on the nodes but I don't think he finished it (please, tell me if he did).

Just in case you were wondering what else out there. I have a pack of 80 that was here and is now at Poser Pros. Sales have not been to bad either place. Not as good as products for DAZ3D's Vicky though ;) I say go for it. We need to stimulate the use of P5 Materials! BTW pdxjims has a number of images in the gallery that show how well P5 materials can be used.raven posted Mon, 22 September 2003 at 8:01 AM
They are in the rosity freestuff, I use them all the time, they're great!
