Been itching for a while to make a pair of these, I just had to work out how construct those sides out of terrains. This is obviously just a start, hope to make them look real complex/cool. Still got a ways to go... The curved sides and the hex screws are terrains, everything else are primitives. AgentSmith

These will no doubt be stellar when you're done. But if you did the sides out of terrains....can we please, please, pleeeease see the gradient you used? I finally gave up on trying to get that kind of shape and went to Wings.

Reminds me of Sting's glasses when he was with the Police on the Synchronicity album. Very good modeling: keep it up!

The terrains used to make the sides turned out to be easier to make than I thought. (used Photoshop) First I made the circle, and added a bit of a bevel to the inner and outer edges which would make it appear less flat. On a seperate layer, a made a horizontal gradient strip, that went from black, to white in the middle, to black. I took that strip and applied "Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates>Rectangular To Polar" This made the strip curve (almost) 360 degees, I resized it, and layed it over my circle with its opacity set to "multiply". This made a gradient on a curve. The high point on the terrain turned out more pointy than curved, I may redo that, but for now it looks fine, I was just happy I got it to basically work. I then booleaned the heck out of it with little toruses and cylinders to produce the holes in the sides. AgentSmith

these rock----you make even the simpleist "wip" renders look amazing, thats some incredible lattice work too--love the minute details, even on the screws. cant wait to see what you do with these. Jordan

This is spectacular modelling AS and you always come up with such clever ways of doing things like this. That's the reason you will always be my hero. 8) Catlin

Lol...ah, thanks...;o) I tweaked the hex bolt, made it look a little more like a thumb type of bolt/screw, and changed the screw's inset to look less like a boolean by rounding out the sides with...um, more booleaning. I have the goggles' earpiece "arms" modeled out, have to attach them to those curved sides, and trick'em out a little. Also, a secondary lens to attatch to the front. Post another wip, after that (maybe tonight) AS

Details, details, don't ya just love them details....Now AS will assemble the goggles to perfection and place them on a skiing type guy you see on them swish adverts for cold drinks in the Appalations(sp) and place that guy way, way way, back on a snow packed ridge about 10 miles from the camera................and just as the guy comes into view the cold drink can splatters all over the screen and.....makes you wonder why we do it...........? :-)
