I'm a little miffed, not because of the delay, but because I feel like I am getting the run-around. I ordered the upgrade as soon as it was available. My credit card was billed immediatly (like 3 months ago IIRC) Anyway, last Friday I received an email finally saying it was shipping on Monday the 22nd and it included the FedEx tracking number (I had it shipped 2nd day) I checked the tracking info on Monday, and it's not in FedEx's system. I sent an email to the person who sent me the tracking info to find out if I had the wrong number, she said to try again that night. Next day I check, still number is not in the FedEx system, so I send a 2nd email to the same person. She says the number is right, check again later. Today is Wednesday night, number is still not in the system, and the last reply I got was that I would get it as soon as possible. Maybe it's just me, but I directly asked if it was shipped, and I was ignored and given a line. That's bad CS in my eyes. When someone asks about a purchase they made 3 months ago (since they billed me back then, which IMHO is questionable) they deserve an honst answer. If she had said "no, it's still being processed" I would have been satisfied. As it stands I can't even call my CC company because it was billed so long ago. So, tell me, did it actually ship to anyone? JDexter

I haven't received mine yet either (Canada) but via Fedix tracking I do know it is in the system and on its way to me.
jval posted Wed, 24 September 2003 at 9:19 PM
I guess that should probably be "Fedex"...

At least you got an e-mail with a tracking number. I haven't gotten any e-mail. But I am not in a hurry since I got the beta and it is meeting my needs for the moment. Now what I would like more then the CD would be the manual, just to see how things work. I like to explore things on my own, but this can be frustrating at times and then is when I like to really on a well written manual. I sure hope than when I do get my parcel, it will include such a manual. The one that shipped with C-1 was very poorly written and full of mistakes. You could not even complete the tutorials since it omitted crucial info. I still think that we ought to cut Eovia some slack since they did ship the bata, and a very stable and usable beta it is.
PAGZone posted Wed, 24 September 2003 at 10:36 PM
I received a message too on the 20th, that it had shipped. I live in CA so it only takes two days, but the information did not show up till yesterday when it actually shipped. The only thing fedex had on the 20th was the shipping info. It is now scheduled for tomorrow. So it did not actually ship until Tuesday.

Hi JDexter, I usually don't post here or anywhere else for that matter, but I understand how you feel. I felt exactly the same way. After I got email from them last week that shipping is starting friday, and I didn't get any other email from them since then. I also ordered C3 as soon as it was available, so I began to feel uneasy. I didn't even get tracking number or anything at all. And this afternoon, after I came back from work, there was Fedex notice on the front door about their delivery attempt. I didn't know what it was then. And an hour later, door bell rang, and Fedex guy handed me a package, and it was C3. I guess Eovia is having a crazy time trying to send their product as quickly as possible. Things must be haywire. Anyway, you might get it tomorrow. I hope this could help you feel little better.

Hi JDexter: I received my copy yesterday evening, spent the night installing it and going over the tutorials. Did several test renders and it seems faster than C2. No major problems yet but I haven't had time to delve deeper into the program. Minor problem with bringing in the test model, the grids did not show on the top and front view. Re-loading the model corrected that, but I had that issue with C2 as well. Chrisf.

Hy EveryBody, If it can help you, I received My C3 on last week just 3 days after the availability of the version from the Eovia French Office. I hope you will receive your C3 quickly.

Got my copy yesterday. It was shipped from the San Diego office and I live about 2 miles from there. Have not had a chance to even open the box. Peggy

Mine just showed up (Berkeley, CA). No notice that I remember, just showed up at the door. Is the full package...thick manual, quick reference card, two CD's. I can't wait to install!

I ordered last week so i'm still waiting. But i get the feeling it is coming. He he, that 7.75 tax got me in the tail. Total was $459.92 Ray Dream 5.5 was nice, pretty awesome. Except for the Mesh modeler, it was hard to do anything , plus i had a slow machine. I m sure C3 will be much better now.
scotttucker3d posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 2:35 AM
I ordered last month too and I am getting the runaround about shipping. When I check at yahoo it still says will ship in 2-3 weeks - even though it has been shipping now for at least a week. I'm miffed about the cc charge too - I don't like paying for something I am still waiting on. I sure hope it comes soon. Scott

I ordered CR3 Sept 4. Beta shipped Sept 5 + arrived Sept 10 or 11. Eovia e-mailled Sept 16 to confirm shipping date of Sept 22. CR3 arrived with me in the UK this morning Sept 26. No prizes for guessing what I'll be doing over the weekend. :-)
Cheers,
Mark

From what I've heard Eovia can barely get the box and CD in before they have to ship it out. Keep in mind that it is a first come first serve basis, granted you ordered it the day of, but think about how many could have ordered it before you. Plus I heard they are going alphabetically;) Brian
JDexter posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 9:29 AM
It's not about not getting it yet (which BTW, it's still not here) It's about getting a shipment confirmation with a bogus shipping number and bogus shipping date. The email said my package was shipping on the 22nd (received the email on the 19th) and it included a FedEx tracking number. The tracking number is no good. Emails requesting the real tracking number from Eovia are not getting me anywhere, and since I spent extra for 2 days shipping, the fact that it is the 26th is unacceptable. Had ANYONE at Eovia responded with information as to why the tracking number and ship date were wrong, I would not be upset. I have the beta, it works for the most part. When a customer gets a bogus ship date and bogus tracking number, then something is wrong. There is no excuse as to why no one has responded to that, that's just poor CS. JDexter
Nicholas86 posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 9:43 AM
I think thats probally some confusion with fedex not Eovia. Though give them some time, they have a small staff and they respond as fast as they can, I've been waiting on an email too.
weezimp posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 10:51 AM
SPECULATION: For a bulk shipment like this, I believe you prepay for the lot. FedEx then provides shipping labels/tracking numbers. Eovia, already apologizing for the delay from early Sept to mid Sept, probably thought they were doing us a favor by giving us our tracking numbers on Fri 19th. Then on Monday the 22nd they didn't have enough physical product to fill all the orders (delays at the printers?). So many of us get the dreaded "never scanned" from FedEx tracking. Your number's good, there's just no box attached to it yet. Also, it has been my experience with many of these shipping outfits that their online tracking function often lags reality, sometimes by 24 hours or so.
Kixum posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 12:16 PM
I got an email and a tracking number from Fedex (not Eovia). My copy is on the way. I expect it here today actually. A friend of mine hasn't seen an email yet but thought his wife may have axed it. No telling the facts on this one. I'm happily anticipating the package at my door today! -Kix

I got it yesterday, installed it...and love it! The organization of the program seems subtly different from the Beta but my renders have worked well (caustics work) and the manual seems okay. I feel like I should be finding more shaders, the models are the same that came with Carrara but there are some wonderful textures for planets!
tebop posted Fri, 26 September 2003 at 8:04 PM
Great. I ordered this week on tuesday and got an email today that is scheduled to ship on the 29th. and by the way, yes sir ee, they have a small staff . you can get a sense of this by listening to the answering machine you get when you call and the only guy there says "i'm not at my office". He's nice though. I aint have Carrara yet but in the meantime i'm posing some posettes in poser.
BillyGoat posted Sun, 28 September 2003 at 3:06 PM
Like Peggy, i'm about 20 miles away... Last I heard they were re-doing the box. Would it help if I camped out outside their office? It was paid for 2 months ago...
scotttucker3d posted Sun, 28 September 2003 at 10:58 PM
I ordered on August 24th and still have not gotten the full shipping version - but did the get the beta pretty soon after ordering. After two non-answered emails to customer service I am calling them tommorrow - this is getting ridiculous. :/ The shipping version should have been here by now. Scott

Mine arrived exactly when they said it would, I'm not used to customer service as good as Eovias. I like it
Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someone's neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing?

I received an Email from Eovia on Monday, September 22, saying the scheduled delivery date was Friday, September 26. I checked the UPS site to track the shippment and find this disclaimer and no tracking information. "the package information below has been transmitted to UPS. The package(s) may not have actually been placed with UPS for shipment." Here it is Monday, September 29, and still no software or tracking information. I've Emailed Eovia and I'm waiting for a reply.
JDexter posted Mon, 29 September 2003 at 5:30 PM
Still waiting here as well. No tracking info in FedEx system, and the only stuff I get from Eovia is 'It's the right tracking number'. If I don't have an answer by morning, I'm going to cancel. I like Carrera, but I can find other products to suit my needs. JDexter

I'm beginning to understand what you guys are saying. I previously said that "wow, i'm getting mine in a week". But It's already 29th of september, which is the day they said it would ship, and there is no working tracking number. Unacceptable!
tebop posted Mon, 29 September 2003 at 7:58 PM
GOT it! I think i got it. The problem is, like i said before, there is only one guy at the sales office. And he's not your hard working bee, he seems to take long breaks up to 3 o clock PM.
Pinklet posted Tue, 30 September 2003 at 12:26 PM
I believe that we should be getting it this week. At least that is what Pricilla, at Eovia promised me. If they had problems with the boxes this is all to be expected. It is also very corporate to lie about something like this (companies do not like to admit on embarrassing deals) , but things do happen that are beyond Eovia's control and fortunately for me, I am not using Carrara for a crucial project at this point, so if it takes a bit longer, so be it. I will probably download the patch to get the beta to keep on working thou.

tebop posted Tue, 30 September 2003 at 7:58 PM
Wow jval. YOu sure are lucky. Well, according to Pricilla, who i complained to, i should be receiving mine tomorrow. So happy^_^
jval posted Tue, 30 September 2003 at 9:08 PM
Yes, tebop, I suppose I am fortunate. Still, others received their copies before I and I expect that for most of us it will just be a matter of a few days one way or the other. Hope yours arrives soon! What does please me is that Eovia has made compatibility upgrades for Power Pack and VectorStyle available almost immediately- and they seem to work!
JDexter posted Tue, 30 September 2003 at 9:08 PM

Great news everyone! Mine is getting heere tomorrow by 3 o clock. So after work i should be able to feel it with my own hands. Pricilla did say it, shipped out of san diengo at 5:30 pm today, my city is a few hours north. . at last, now i'm thinking what to try out first in carrara. : )
tebop posted Tue, 30 September 2003 at 10:33 PM
Oh, and i saw the FedEx site and now my tracking number got results so i was able to see the expected delivery date. So how's Carrara at first, are you like all confused when you start it up? or is it simple to use?
JDexter posted Wed, 01 October 2003 at 6:52 AM
It definitely has a learning curve. But it's a good package, and not as hard as some other packages to learn. The biggest thing that got me when I first used it was vertical contraint. I couldn't for the life of me figure that one out. (Hold down Alt btw, that would be it) Everything else came in time.
scotttucker3d posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 7:11 PM
Finally got it today. A call to Pricilla did help. She wasn''t aware of any shipping snafu and I think she is now ; ) She was very helpful and I finally got it today. Just give them a chance. Looks like a fun weekend : ) Scott

I got mine today too finally. Since it said it was shipped on the 22nd and today is the 3rd, I guess it was worth spending the money on 2 day shipping. /rollseyes Okay, I'm done bitching. I hope someone, somewhere learned that telling the truth about a situation is far better CS than trying to make something up and hope for the best. JDexter
