So I've got the character built. Made in Carrara. Got all the seperate body parts. Put it into Poser. Assembled with the Hierarchy editor. Lined up all the joints (big 'ol pain in the ass!)... The character is done with the exception of textures... Haven't done much exploring with it yet, but the results I have ended up with are hideous! I have Painter 3D, which I was planning on using... Just wondering if anyone has any starter points... A few things to mention. Right now, when the body parts are imported from Carrara to Poser they are not scaled. I did the scaling in Poser and then created the new figure... Also the mapping mode I used in Carrara was the Full Box mode. Don't know that either of these factors have anything to do with making textures in Painter or any other program, but they were necassary for the primitive, tmeporary textures I created. Any ideas, suggestions...? Anyone?... Beuller?

heyas; try uvmapper (available under utilities in free stuff, i believe) for creating a uvmap to paint on. for painter 3d, also create a copy of your model that has only one group (you can do this in uvmapper as well). paint on the one-group model, then use the texture map on the real model in poser. (remember to flip it vertically between apps.) just a side note... you scaled the parts in poser and then made a character?? i think that's a bad thing. unless you exported the newly scaled stuff out as a new obj. or used that spawn props stuff; i'm not sure.

I bought Painter 3D and found it to be cumbersome and completely useless. I uninstalled it from my computer. I would do as Bloodsong says, export it as an OBJ and run it through UV Mapper. Then just paint onto the map with Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, or whatever program you feel most comfortable using. That's the easiest way. Melanie

If the character is a human body, you might consider using UVMapper to duplicate the mapping of one of the existing figures so that you can use all the maps that are already available.
