This is probaby a bit of a naff question - but does the Poser importer plugin for 3ds on Curious Lab's website work with Poser5? It's under the "pro pack" downloads, and there's no mention of it under the Poser5 downloads. So, does it work - or it poser4/propack only? -c*

Do you mean the hosting plugin? It's only for Pro Pack and 3DS Max.
Reiss Studio sells the updated Poser 5 version of the plugin.

Body Studio by Reiss (mentioned above) is great for Poser 5. Been using it a few weeks now with much success.

Wow. I'm at a nearly at a loss for words. The Poser4 pro-pack plugin is a free download. But, because I upgraded to Poser5, I've suddenly LOST this feature? I'm expected to pay $175 to get it back?

Yes, a number of people have ... uh ... expressed their dismay.

You lost nothing. Pro Pack works only for Poser 4. Not 5. It is not free, in any shape or form, as you ahve to own Pro Pack first.

Well, see that's the point Ryamka - I DO own the pro pack, but I upgraded from 4, to 5. I somehow got the impression that the newer, more advanced version of the program might actually do all the things the older version did, and more. You're not supposed to lose features when you upgrade. That's how you lose customers, as well.

Pro Pack is an extra for Poser 4. Though they could be purchased in a bundle, they are originally separately priced products. Body Studio is an extra for Poser 5. Again, separately priced products. An upgrade to Poser 5 for Pro Pack owners is $89. An upgrade to Body Studio for Poser5 and Pro Pack owners is $129 (not the full price of $179) and adds features not available in Pro Pack such as support for Poser 5 Dynamic Cloth and Hair (the hair is still in beta, but there is no additional charge for that upgrade when it is complete). Compare this to Poser 4 which is now available for $119 , and Pro Pack which you can now purchase for $139, both of these reduced from their pre-P5 pricing. I fail to see a problem. Upgrade pricing is somewhat comparable, both upgrades lower than a brand new purchase of Poser 4 and Pro Pack. Poser 5 is an upgrade from Poser 4, which contains some of the Pro Pack features built in. I don't recall ever seeing any claim made by Creative Labs that Poser 5 contains all of the Pro Pack features. Body Studio is an upgrade from Pro Pack which includes the remainder that isn't already in Poser 5, plus support for new Poser 5 features. Add to that that Body Studio is made by a 3rd party, not by Creative Labs themselves.

Ugh... took me nearly 24 hours to realize it, but I obviously had sound card woes on the brain during that last post :) Make that Curious Labs, not Creative Labs. Sheesh.
