If you, like me, joined the Platinum Club at the introductory offer last year ($49.95), it's probably about to autorenew soon. I did not know when I signed up last year that it would be autorenewing, so glad I caught it when I went to Daz3D today and cancelled the autorenew. (at least I hope I did it right)

If you want your PC membership to autorenew, you're probably good to go then.

If you don't want it to autorenew, you have to cancel it at the Daz3D site and sign into your account.

I actually would probably have renewed at $49.95, but not at more than that.

3ddave44 posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 9:06 PM

To renew is $69.95 and with the vouchers and 30% off, it might not work out so bad. Certainly cheaper than the monthly option which works out to $117 and some... I'm trying to decide myself whether to renew. I don't have V3 or M3 and much of the wares are for them - been so for Vic3 for awhile (well, since she came out) and now it's M3 heavy so for me maybe not so worth it... I've got til the 23rd to figure it out. : )

Dave-So posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 9:35 PM

mine expires on the 22nd..I'm trying to calculate if it would be worth it. the $5 vouchers are only good on DAZ original items, and there aren't many of them anymore..nearly everyhing is brokered. I went thru the entire featured section and only found a handful of original items, and I didn't want any of them. plus the voucher has to be used each month or you lose it.

According to my cart, the renewal fee is $99.99 -- the 30% discount was not applied.

Dave-So posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 10:26 PM

that $99 is an annual for a new member... if you're already a member and you renew, it is $69... or one of the many other ways...seems complicate.. they give you a waiver of the $29 start up.plus a 30% voucher...then you pay 7.95/month...11 or 12 months on a renewal?

Milamber, you have to look more closely, it's a little buried - once you click the annual or monthly membership icon, on the resulting page in the right column with all the about text, there are links to Renewal Memberships for both monthly and annual (though it looks like monthly is the same 29.95; new member or not). Have a look.

milamber42 posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 10:45 PM

Ok. I missed the links under the related products. Guess it pays to read all of the product page :)

milamber42 posted Fri, 03 October 2003 at 11:09 PM

I do have to agree with Dave-So though. I have not purchased anything from the P Club in a while, and the $5 vouchers are only good on DAZ premier products. And as DaveSo observed, there are not many DAZ premier products these days. And most of the stuff released is fantasy stuff [It is the same problem at all stores though]. Mabye the vendors should spend 1/2 a day at the local shopping center/mall and closely observe what people are wearing. I'd like to see some real/normal/practical clothing, and some sports uniforms (male and female) would be nice also. One of the perks of the P Club is a "Members Only" section in the DAZ|Forum (comming soon...still). Mabye DAZ will allow members to request P Club products and premier via the members only forum.

This is just being completed as we speak and should be set live for all to enjoy tomorrow afternoon MST. There will be a new product specifically for people who wish to renew their Platinum Club product for another full year. This product is priced at $69.95. If you wish to renew your membership at the $7.95 monthly fee, you may do that as well, it will happen automatically so long as you make sure that your account is updated with the proper credit card information (and also make sure your billing address is current, please). A separate newsletter will be sent to all current Platinum Club members to further outline the procedure and explain all the benefits of renewing *cough*bonuspak*cough* and the options you have to choose between. Thanks for your patience, anyone whose membership happens to get cancelled before this goes live tomorrow (there are at least a few from what I recall) will be allowed to choose which method they prefer to renew with and still be granted all the 'extras' that everyone else gets, etc. Thanks, Steve Kondris DAZ Productions, Inc.

I'm a Pclub member. Over the past few months Daz has been recruiting more and more brokers, buying up collections of merchants products (I'm hoping these become Daz Products vouchers can be used on). While the discount on brokered items at inital sale time is nice, after that sale is over the PClub is of no benifit at all. Are more brokers being recruited to add to the PClub store? Will the PClub members benifit on Daz Studio addon discounts? I saved a lot on the purchase of MimicPro2 because I was a PClub member, same with V3, and M3. What is the insentive to continuing to be a PClub member? Initally when the PClub was started V3 and M3 were projected and Daz represenatives stated that PClub members would benifit, I see the truth in that as I saved a lot of money. SO... What's next. If there are going to be 3 addons for Daz Studio and new original models that would save me money then I may reup. I have V3, and M3 as I said. Sell me. Why should I spend my $117 for a year, $69, or other amount when I could spend that amount on other stores or merchants items other than Daz's. I'm not trying to be flipant. I knew I was going to buy V3, and M3 and MimicPro2, with the PClub membership of $99 initally I saved a lot of money, and had I not been a member it would have cost me a lot more for items that I knew were upcoming and that I was going to buy. So what's next that would persuade me that investing money in a membership where I get nothing and have no clue what is on the board for the next year. I looked at the items in the bonuspack and if I got nothing in a full year I would personally not buy any of those items in the following year. I've been an advocate of the PClub in the past year, but now I need to be sold why I should rejoin.

who3d posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 4:27 AM

Apparently the bonuspack (so rumour says) for returnees is gonna be different to that given out to first-timers. To better avoid giving us what we've already bought (or had the chance to, cheap). But if you want "killer app" convincing, that's gotta be DAZ Studio and add-ons. I must admit that I'm rather worried/sad that DAZ/Studio, while being touted by DAZ fans as all things to all people (not even just homo sapiens) still isn't out yet. There's product delays and product delays, but seeing how many problems large DAZ products typically ship with (M3, V3) I'm concerned about how late D|S is and fear it'll STILL get a "oh my god" Servic eRelease within a month. Hopefully I'm wrong and DAZ have been really REALLY concentrating on getting the first beta mega-stable. but my hopes for the product have certainly waned :( ...but if it's a success, think of the possible add-ons. Forget getting up to Poser 5 functionality (I hope that materials, hair, cloth, & face room-type functionality have been added in the extra months) and think about what could take D|S further... how about a simplified UVMApper add-on so that you can create your own clothing textures from photos of people wearing clothes? With "shadow/lighting" adjustment tools to reduce that "the lights have to come from this direction" issue? (such plugins already exist for 2D apps). It wouldn't replace UV Mapper Pro but it might make a handy way for people to create "everyday clothes" from their own wardrobes, using basic clothing packs for the geometry. The Millenium Dog that attracts so much attention might be another reason - and what othe rMillenium characters might follow? Bird, fish (oooh - some good cartoon & lifelike fish variations could make Pixars of us all)/worm? Best argument I can give:- My membership will run out in a matter of weeks. DAZ have annoyed me in numerous ways - all the patches to V3 and M3, especially the "you can't tell from our website that it's a different patch" sagas, and so on and so forth... but they've also done a great deal that's right. My first years membership was good value within months, if not hours, of purchase. I have little doubt, given their marketing skills, that they'll make me feel a second year was well worth it - the decision is already in here, they'll have to foul up hugely to avoid getting another years worth of money out of me.

My membership runs out in a matter of DAYS. I plan to renew for the annual, not the monthly, and I STILL do not know if using a CC through Paypal will be allowed...even though mine is a debit card, it's treated as a CC for all intents and purposes. And sometimes I get the newsletter, sometimes I don't. Sigh. I don't want to miss this one. I trust that my membership will be worth it even though I didn't indulge in M3 (I might be able to afford M3 hisself, but not being able to clothe him makes the purchase kinda moot ;) )

elektra posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 7:17 AM

I have saved HUGE amounts of money with the PC. I plan to renew. It's worth it to me. I buy a lot of stuff in the PC. V3 and M3 are out yes, and who knows what's coming next. Stephanie 2? Millenium Wolf? Millenium Fox? There are plenty of new things DAZ could be coming out with. Yes, their products have problems the same as anywhere else, but they put out fixes quickly and don't charge you and arm and a leg for it. DAZ, like anyplace, has pluses and minuses. Right now their pluses outweigh their minuses. I don't know what DAZ Studio will bring, but I'm content to wait and see. Don't forget a BETA product will be buggy, it's how buggy will the final release be?

Dave-So posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 9:28 AM

I also am thinking that saving is all relative...Most of us early folks to the Pclub paid $49....a real deal... but I had already purchased quite a bit of the original DAZ products that were put in the PC..such as the eagle and addon--which cost me near $100...so perhaps I saved a bit.... would I have purchased all that I did this last year if I had not joined the PC...doubtful... The $1.99 items are great, and the 30% off is great ... I need to really figure out the math... I think my problem, more than anything, is the fact I"ve spent a ton of cash over the last year, and honestly can't afford to do it anymore. I can't afford the lump sum payment, so the $7.95 is good for me, but it also requires you to spend more, doesn't it ?? LOL If you can't find an original item to spend the monthly voucher on, that is gone each month... DAZ needs to increase their output of original stuff to make the club worth while for this next year, or allow savings to be applied to brokered items...but you can see their profits going right down the toilet.

elektra posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 9:33 AM

I had most of the stuff they offered when joining the PC last year as well. If you don't use the $5 voucher each month it's gone right? So what? Big deal? It's not like you're losing anything and you get it back each month. So, next month there might be something you want. It would be nice to see more DAZ original products, agreed. It would be nice to have more items to spend vouchers and gift certificates on. I also think, at least for PC members, that if you get a voucher or a gift certificate and there are no DAZ originals for you to purchase than one of two things should happen. They should either allow you to purchase a brokered item with it, or allow you to extend the life of the voucher/certificate. This is not to include the monthly $5 voucher, that should expire at the end of the month.

Khai-J-Bach posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 10:28 AM

hmmm I've been on the fence about the PC. so I took another look at whats on offer in the area. OK.. for me personnally? nothing. nada. Zip. everything I would like is in the Premier Store. I mainly work in the SF genre.. the PC has about 4 or 5 items I could use. total. so for me personally it would be paying a lot out for few savings. there is some good stuff there, don't get me wrong. but for my own tastes / needs, it's not the answer. now.. if Daz could get away from the Fantasy stuff they've been pumping out and produce some more 'real world' and SF stuff (see the excellent Moon Over Saturn series for V3) I would then get a PC membership....

wgschick posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 10:32 AM

my membership is also due to expire soon. i clicked on the store option to renew and this is the message that appears in my shopping cart: "We're sorry, but we no longer offer this item. Its product detail page is available only for reference. If you believe this to be in error, we'd appreciate it if you'd contact us and let us know. There was a problem adding that item to your cart. If you believe this to be in error, please contact us. " also, it would be nice if they let you store your monthly voucher. i don't always find something i really want each month, and would love to be able to hold them over.

Dave-So posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 10:34 AM

like Kaibach said...plus most of the stuff is brokered, so none of the discounts can be applied... I've been really having a hard time finding anything at DAZ recently that I need or would buy...even the new M3 stuff just doesn't tinkle my twinkie... I can't even find a decent plaid lumberjack type flannel shirt...finally they have some jeans made for that biker outfit for M3....

If you don't want it to autorenew, you have to cancel it at the Daz3D site and sign into your account.

My account information says You do not have a credit card associated with your membership, so your membership cannot be renewed

I have one year membership. Probably, I am not going to renew it.
Am I automatically cancelled?

Or what should I do to confirm it

MachineClaw said 'While the discount on brokered items at inital sale time is nice, after that sale is over the PClub is of no benifit at all.' I've been brokering through DAZ for 2 years now and I estimate that less than 10% of my sales were actually at the full price. The other 90% were at a sale price. After the initial sale period on a brokered item, there's the summer sale, winter sale, christmas sale and god-knows-what-else sale. So, it's not entirely fair to say there's no benefit after the initial sale. Ya just need to wait a while. Remember, brokers may be OK with having discounts on their stuff, but they're not gonna want to do all that work so a product can be sold at $1.99. mac

ronstuff posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 12:19 PM

On the product page for Annual Renewal there is a note which says:
"VISA and Mastercard cannot be accepted"

Does anybody know if this is right, and what are the payment alternatives for those of us who only have these types of credit cards?

RHaseltine posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 12:35 PM

PayPal is the amin alternative for annual renewals (or new subs) though I think you can send them a cheque. It was the fees the cc companies were charging for covering the annual subs that led to the introduction of the monthly scheme.

Silke posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 12:57 PM

The only thing that worries me a bit is this "preview" thing. Originally it was (I think) that PC items would never be moved out of the PC area. So with this preview.... does this mean I have say.. a month.. to make up my mind, and if I don't grab it then I pay full price??? If so - I'm probably not going to renew. I buy stuff when I need it, not when I see it. And whats this about Visa / Mastercard not accepted??? What kind of nonsense is that???

Silke

MachineClaw posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 1:29 PM

maclean - understand. My point was that the PClub does not help with brokered items, only daz originals. if daz is highering more and more brokers and offering fewer and fewer original items the PClub gives little benifit other than the monthly voucher, if you want that item, and if not then after the month it goes away. I've been buying more and more brokered items, to save myself money I buy on the intital release, and the PClub membership does not help me with those purchases. "Doin the math" is difficult. Last year it was a no brainer, I knew I was going to make up the cost of the PClub membership in savings with the 30% off items, because I knew there were going to be big purchases. The cost of the pclub payed for itself over the year. this year, I actually do not know if I CAN make up the cost of the pclub and to me that is money lost, not money saved, just to get a few items that are only in the PClub that non members cannot purchase. the visa/mastercard annual PClub puchase cannot be done. Daz has stated that their CC company service has a problem with doing annual purchase that is why Daz had to setup the monthly payment for CC. Then to help out Daz setup puchasing the annual with Paypal but there is a different procedure to purchase it. You can use a CC, or a debit card, or your checking account etc with PayPal. I have to figure out the math this year because my spending will not be what it was last year. I love the products that I have gotten over the year in the PClub. I like scifi and fantasy and over the year there have been suprises that I really liked and bought too like the ninjasuit, and some of the scene props. I like Antons ideas and products, and the brokered textures that have been coming out. but for me this year it isn't a no brainer, it for me is a much harder purchase as I know that I am not going to be spending as much money as I did last year. Really hard desicion.

maclean posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 2:09 PM

MachineClaw, I hear what you're saying. If it's any consolation to you, DAZ are working to get brokers to sell their stuff outright to DAZ, instead of selling through them. Presumably, if DAZ owns a product outright, they can put it in the PC or whatever they want. They started this fairly recently, so it might take a while for the effects to show. But in the private broker letter, DAZ frequently remind us that they're willing to buy a whole product. So, they obviously want to have sources other than their own modellers for the PC. mac

Berserga posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 2:34 PM

I bet they did that with Dodger's robot, since it says nothing about Dodger anywhere on the product's page. I was wondering what was up with that. That's a good idea really. He probably made more seklling it outright to Daz, than he would have at $5 a pop minus rosity's share in the Marketplace.

randym77 posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 2:44 PM Online Now!

Why would they have trouble with charging annual renewals to Visa and MC, but not monthly? I would think monthly would be more of a pain than yearly.

MachineClaw posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 3:01 PM

dunno. that is what Daz has said. Their CC company that process's the CCs charges them more or something for processing annual. Daz was trying to find the best for their business and trying to help the customers as well.

RHaseltine posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 3:39 PM

It was a question of exposure - the CC company were concerned that DAZ might go poof and leave them having to pay back large chunks of unfulfill subsciption, so they charged a hellacious premium. With the monthlies the exposure is less and so there's no punitive premium.

Q2 posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 7:17 PM

Himico, In your post, you say: My account information says You do not have a credit card associated with your membership, so your membership cannot be renewed

So that answers your question, it won't be renewed.

Interesting about the CC thing. DAZ does have my CC, and my account did say it was set to autorenew. I wonder if it was going to renew me annually or monthly. Doesn't really matter though, like I said above, I cancelled the autorenew.

Himico posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 7:54 PM

Q2, Another question, which may not be important, is :

I used my credit card many times.
Why I had this message, and you had different message.

I was wondering what message other people had.

Caly posted Sat, 04 October 2003 at 10:03 PM

You have to actually set your credit card as your default payment option in order for it to show up as automatic.

I also got the very same message that was mentioned earlier when I tried to renew: "We're sorry, but we no longer offer this item. Its product detail page is available only for reference. If you believe this to be in error, we'd appreciate it if you'd contact us and let us know." I contacted DAZ on Friday and am waiting with bated breath to hear how I can renew!!!
