Now $500 + $100 is a lot of money to spend at once on a software. Doesn't E-ON offer any monthly installment plans? Any help will be appreciated. thx

Monthly installments for purchasing software will always remain a dream (unfortunately). It would be too easy for people to pay one month, get the software, copy it, and then return it simply refusing to pay further more. - Orio

No I mean they take the CC card info and charge u on that monthly.
Orio posted Sun, 05 October 2003 at 11:37 AM
that's the same, they have no warranty. One could block the card just after having received the software. And companies could not prevent that from happening. Usually isntallment payments (at least here) are made on the basis of a contract, that says that in case of missing payment, the object will have to be returned in the original condition. You understand that with software, this does not give any warranty. As I said, one could copy it, store the copy then block payments and return the original.

It will cost me $800 in canada. My interest rate is 18.5% like most ppl, what do u think I will have to pay as interest?

You're lucky. Here in Europe, VAT is 20% in most places. And Vue Pro costs more here than in any other place on Earth (God knows why, but we Europeans must be always the idiots who have to pay more for the same thing - and this time it's just a small difference, it could have been MUCH worse, for instance Poser Pro Pack costed to Europeans about the DOUBLE that it costed to Americans).

Anyone know what their return policy is?? I've tried to find ANYTHING about it here on R'Osity and on E-On's site ... nothing. I'm extremely wary of getting burned again on Vue Pro, after being hugely disappointed with a number of features in Vue. Thanks.

I doubt they will return vue or pro based on lack of features to you.

jot: Get a loan at the bank and then pay of each month. timoteo1: Better consumer rights in this area is needed. Software manufacturers are like the people selling 'Magic wonder drugs ' in old western movies. The package is allways god looking until you open it up. I think the plant editor in Vue4Pro is one of those. Yes, the do say that you work by modifing existing plants but what they also said did not make me think that you only could edit the leaf and petal images as well as doing some scaling, length etc editing. I actually thought that in this editor that you could use to create new spieces you could laso do stuff such adjusting the number of branches, number of iterations, number of flowers, type of flowers etc. Boy, do i feel fooled. They did of course not lie, they did just not tell excactly what you can do and what you can't do. So don't buy anything that you can't get a demo version of.

quoute "So don't buy anything that you can't get a demo version of." end qoute well thats the only reason i havent bought the pro version yet :) i never buy a software i cant demo first. but im sure ill end up buying the pro version as soon as ive tried a demo, whenever that is out :)

But unfortunately, their sidegrade offer is INCREDIBLY SHORT. Doesn't it end in like a week or so?
The other thing is, I feel like Pro may indeed address a LOT of the deficiencies that were in Vue 4. But that raises a lot of issues about WHY should one have to pay for an expensive upgrade to get what SHOULD have been working in Vue 4. Seems very underhanded.

I've seen a lot of issues with Vue Pro posted. I'm still debating it. I thought it had a better plant editor! Plus it sounds like a lot of CDs arrive damaged. I wonder if they will rectify that and start sending the stuff in CD cases? I'd prefer to wait until they did, but I can't afford the non- special price.

after oct 15 vue pro goes up another $100.

Whitch actually not only makes it more expensive. It makes it silly expensive as the only thing with real worth is the integration to high end 3D software. And as the user of high end software is used to pay $3000-$5000 for the software so they will probably pay it but will the prosumer? If the Pro version had included a real plant editor, particles and a real animationsytem so I don't have to use Poser for character animation, a lot more plants etc, then I would be prepared to pay that price. As a prosumer I can't say that the Pro version is worth the $299 price tag, I would rather value it at $99 or maybe $199. $399 is a joke. One would need to be mentaly retarded to pay that price. Whe should however realise that when E-ON turns to the Pro market they are dealing with people that easy pay $600 for a plugin. So whe prosumers are probably not the target group here, so maybe whe should stay out of this race. I think I should have saved my money for Vue5. Hopefully it will get the better working OpenGl (something that really should have been fixed in Vue4 to), and some other nice stuff and for a decent price tag.

I started another thread on Vue4 deficiencies that I hoped were addressed in Vue4 Pro. So far, ZERO except MAYBE slightly better OpenGL support. But that wouldn't be hard to do since OpenGL, for all intensive purposes, was not implemented in Vue 4.
The more I think about it, the angrier it makes me. I think I'm going to request a refund for Vue 4 since it's basically unuseable and they have yet to fix the OpenGL issue. Which they'll in all likelihood deny. Sounds like prime grounds for a class-action suit. Anyone want to pre-register? (yeah, I'm sure this is a real popular point of view., or "point of vue", on this board.)
