A ball, the one's that kids play with (soccer/basketball) punctured and semi-deflated, a Lone shoe (see those a lot and never know why there is only one) cd's that the internet provider's send as a "trial" offer (example: Aol,Earthlink, etc.) Flyer's that people put on your car's windshield (I don't know if they do this where you live, but people who what to advertise something, put a printed sheet of paper under the wind-sheild wiper of someone's car when it is parked in a place like a shopping mall, usually very bright colors are used on the paper)and since it is that time of year........fallen leaves.(: genny

Dang, ernyoka1, you've already got most of the bases covered..;) crumpled magazines come to mind, half-eaten fruit, popsicle sticks (that shouldn't be too hard..;), 8-track tapes (I just moved, so cardboard boxes are everywhere, but I think you've already done that..;), hmm..a trip to the back alleys should provide plenty of materials..;)

You haven't done a broken hypodermic needle yet, have you? Also beer bottles (broken or otherwise) and the little cardboard totes they come in, the plastic rings off a six-pack, bottlecaps, orange and banana peels, chewing-gum wrappers .... Why yes, I do spend a lot of time lurking in dark alleys ....

Butane lighters. Pine cones. Car parts: hubcaps, mufflers, license plate brackets. Gloves. Those cloth hairband thingies (Scrunchies). For some reason teenagers leave sweatshirts and jackets on the street often. (Maybe they slip off the extra clothing after committing a crime, to change description.) Plastic water bottles. (You probably have those already.)

Um... bottle caps, banana peels, used condoms, morphing 4-fold newspaper pages (loose), cardboard box, torn sofa with the springs sticking out, milk crate, broken glass shards, morphable crumpled plastic shopping bag... some of these challenging enough? :D

A wireframe shopping cart. The kind people steal from the grocery to take their stuff home. If it's ot stuff in it, like a homeless person's savings, all the better. Crushed cans, beer is better. A peice of paper that can either have a handwritten list or some kid's bad homework. Definitly the used condom and the discarded wrapper. Bottle top poking out of a crumpled paper bag. I live in a nice neighborhood, and in the past month I've found all these things within a block of my house. ...sigh...

Suggestions? - Variety of trash-bags and heaps of trash-bags, different sizes and color of plastic - some tied shut, some open and spilling, some with tears in the sides and raggs or what-not spilling out. 2 or 3 with a variety of morphs would likely do it. Drifted heaps of leaves. Flattened, warped and soggy masses of cardboard from boxes. Crumbling old cinder-blocks Broken discolored toilet-bowls. Stained, soggy, and charred mattresses with springs exposed. Torn couches and chairs missing cushions with stuffing spilling out. Old spray bottles. Broken lamp-shades Crushed fast food soda cups and loose lids with straws still thru them. Rolled-up old carpets Plastic rings from soda six-packs A few images http://www.eslarp.uiuc.edu/images/cdimages/0917/jpeg/008.jpeg http://www.eslarp.uiuc.edu/images/cdimages/1811/jpeg/092.jpeg www.nephitimesnews.com/ 1200/122700/front.htm www.filthymess.com/ trash_on_42nd.asp www.co.tompkins.ny.us/solidwaste/ tipfloor.html www.ourbeach.org/photo5.html http://artgarbage.com/ps/brookforest_fl/pg3.html Wish there was some way to make potholes, oilstains, rutted pavement, and torn fabric holes with stuffing spilling out as add-in props Just a few random items I'd love to dress up some of my urban renders with.....

non-winner lottery tickets, disposable diaper, old car seat, broken doll, spent 9mm shell casings, chalk outline of body on the sidewalk, dead animals, campaign posters, unused tickets to Gigli. Empty painkiller bottles if outside Rush Limbaugh's house.

Don't you people ever go to free stuff? ;o) heheh Little Dragon, I have made a syringe with detachable needle. It's not broken though. Leather Guy, Rutted pavement? Not sure what rutted means but my pavements are uneven to say the least, is that what you mean? You can check it out on the free Corner I made for Trash Street, it has a lenght of pavement attached. Thanks for the suggestions so far, please keep on coming up with more. In the meantime I'll make some of the things mentioned (when I get back home from work *sigh*) --- *) As part of commercial sets.FREEBIES! | My Gallery | My Store | My FB | Tumblr |

derelict televisions, destroyed and forgotten boom blasters &/or parts, rusted out automobile carcasses from the 70's. Tire rims filled with concrete for makeshift low budget sign. I once saw the vertebra of a dog on the sidewalk. Brown paper bags concealing Old English 800 malt liquor can (16 oz.), mangled baby stollers, discarded matresses. Computer with 286 processor.
Cookienose posted Mon, 06 October 2003 at 6:46 AM
I know this isn't trash exactly, but you need some grass blades or other little stubborn plants between the cracks in the sidewalk and next to the buildings. Smashed remains of glass beer bottles, headlights, and brake lights. Fast food wrappers, runover t-shirt. And some wooden boards here and there that fell off of a boarded over house.

old refrigerators with no doors. headless dolls, or broken doll's heads. rusted bikes with spokes and things missing. a pair of sneakers flung over the electrical wires in the street (i forget what this is supposed to signify, but i see it all over). hobo symbols on the walls (as seen here http://www.techm.com/font2.html). partial bird skeletons. furniture with missing parts, stained, threadbare. pay phones with graffiti, missing parts, and security parts on them to keep people from stealing the quarters.
TrekkieGrrrl posted Mon, 06 October 2003 at 1:42 PM
Cobaltdream (or others) do you have anywhere where I can see a pic of a payphone that would fit into Trash Street? I like to believe Trash Street is kinda american, though it's more a generic feeling about it. Point is, I only know how a danish pay phone looks, and beside the point that the reciever is usually missing it'll probably look quite misplaced. Also WOULD a pay phone fit into Trash Street at all?

Yes a payphone would definitely work on a trash street. Nice and beaten from people trying to get the change ;-)

Looks outstanding! Just add a keyhole on the money box and maybe have it protrude just a tiny bit less - hard to tell from the angle - and you've got it. On this type of enclosure, the perforated outline of the receiver seems to be a key design factor. Though they come in blue and red also, the brushed stainless steel is most often seen - at least in my area. It is rare to actually find an intact directory attatched by it's own armored cable. Usually, you have to go into the store and ask to use theirs. Hail Trash Queen - another gritty slice of post 20th Century America.

sorry, the last time i saw the kind of beat-up phone i was thinking of, i was visiting my boyfriend in newark (i'm presently in austin, as is boyfriend). thing is, that bottom part where the money can be taken out? they've got added security on them in the ghetto (i wish i could remember what that part looks like). they still get broken into, so that area's usually damaged or completely broken. they're scratched and beaten up and tagged with marker (as in your picture in the gallery). the big thing is actual damage is prevalent. like if there's three or four in a row (which is common) one will be missing a receiver, one will have damage to the coin slot and to the area where the coins come out, one will have a receiver with missing parts, and only one will be actually usable. if i see any pay phones around like that, i'll take a picture. i just want to say that your work on it so far is really great, and i love how you bring real grit to the often too perfect world of cg.

Cobaltdream, thanks :o) That is exactly my goal: To bring some real grit into the too perfect world of CG :o) I like the idea of various damage to the phones. Some of it (missing reciever) could be easily done with transparency but I may model a REALLY smashed phone too G A morphing phone perhaps?
