I love the pipe in the foreground and the web, but the pipes in the background detract from the composition. I don't argue the validity of their presence, I just believe they might make it work better if they were moved, perhaps downward. Also I think they need something to break up their lines, such as brackets that hold them to the wall. Lastly, a little more differentiation between the cinder blocks and the mortar would add positively to the image. The main pipe and valve and spiderweb however are perfect. Great work!

Very Nice!! It makes me whant to go wash my hands. I think the shadow on the wheel worked out great..it really makes the eye look at it rather than pass over it. 2 things to consider, Maybe have the web a little more translucent? It looks too solid right now. Also Consider giving the rust texture more bump. For some reason the texture on the wheel looks great to me. Its smooth like its been used a lot, but still rusty. On the pipes tho I would think it could be cool to have more water streaks. You have a few cool ones that look longer and cross the joints..but some huge steaky ones would add a lot. If I remember right there was also a cool free shader in the carrara section here that had some cool 3d rust...maybe look at that? Anyway I really dig the models. The nuts look great and for some reason I really really like that wheel..I keep thinking of my grandfathers old rusty tractors...good memories :) -Brent

The wheel, the upright pipe and the bolts look fantastic. The two pipes on the wall might look better if they had the same type of bump, or at least more obvious, as the upright one. The only other thing I could see differently would be to make the cinder blocks more "distressed" or dirty to match the age and use of the pipes. The web looks great to me because of the strength and angle of the main light on it. Very nice image.

Very cool picture, Grim. I'd agree that the cinder blocks look a little wonky. I think they're too sparkly -- too much highlight in the shader. As for the pipes, I think the shader on the cross pipes in the back is a little stretched along the length of the pipe. Maybe you need to repeat it more in one axis or the other.... Compositionally, I'd move the BG pipes down a bit so their lines lead your eye to the valve. The spiderweb might be a bit more subtle, for my tastes. Great modelling; I love the welding seam along the valve joint.

Try painting the pipes. Some of the objects would have been bare metal to start and completly rust covered now, like the bolts. But the pipe might have started red or blue and now rust is bubbling through, but hasn't completely taken over. It may be the brightness settings of my monitor, but try adding a dark blue grey kick light with shadows turned off opposite of your main light. It will help show off some of the details in the shadows, but still give the illusion of darkness. Looks good.
