I know I've posted before about this but I just got my book yesterday...#98 and signed by Brian! This is one of the best books I own. The one thing that is clear is Brian has amazing persistance and talent, both with the pencil and with the keyboard. The pictures and text go beyond his website into the thought process of his movie. It is truly inspiring, regardless of talent or years doing this stuff. It makes a relative newbie like myself get excited and more persistant in my own CG aspirations. I'm off to buy another book, to put away for safe keeping, because this is definitely going to be another "Illusion of Life" type book. Chris

I haven't seen the book (yet!) but there is no question that Brian's fortitude and his work are inspiring. I have haunted his site studying his techniques, etc. Very impressive all around. I look forward to seeing the book! Dave - striving : )

The book has some great technique stuff. It is broken down into 7 sections. 1- Introduction by Jim Coudal 2- Chapt 1 - the project 3- Chapt 2 - the character 4- Chapt 3 - the Mansion 5- Chapt 4 - the Island 6- Chapt 5 - the Ocean 7- 3D Gallery with 3D glasses - pretty cool stuff About 150 pages in all. After my wife and kids fell asleep I read the intro and Chapt 1, hopefully tonight I can get through the rest. Just got my e-mail that my second copy is on its way...that one goes in the vault. Chris

Sounds cool. Can you provide a link to the site? What is the full name of the book? Thanks! Peggy

Rustboy is awesome. The website said it was created using Infin-D. I have heard Infini-D was rolled into Carrara. Does the creator use Carrara for Rustboy at all because his web site makes no mention of Carrara? Brian Taylor does fantastic work. I love it!

He has used Infini-D 4.5m on the Mac mostly as his 3D tool. I know he also has Carrara, but don't know how much he has actually used it. He does use Photoshop quite a bit too. I also own Infini-D 4.5 and can see why he has stuck with it...easy to use, straightforward interface...just my opinion thou. Actually, again IMO, Cinema 4D core is more like Infini-D 4.5 than C3 (which is more like Ray Dream). But most importantly...it's the artist, not the tool...and Brian proves this.

I believe "Boy" himself was modeled in Carrara's vertex modeler. If you look at the photos of him in 'build', the program backgrounds look like Carrara. And when Rustboy first came to our web attention, I think there was mention that he was built in Car Vertex. Such simple, beautifully realised ideas and techniques! Dave
