I have sometimes found with just a few of the Free Stuff downloads that although it appears to download successfully at the time, when I try to unzip the compressed file, I either get an invalid archive message, or a request to load the first (or is it last?) volume of a multi-disk archive (which of course it isn't). I am reminded of this today because of McDetti's new materials collection - for which thank you. I use Get Right as a download manager, but consistently on McDetti's free stuff(and one or two others whose names I cannot remember) I encounter the above problem whether I use GetRight or just rely on Windows for the download. If you experience similar problems (and I've no idea why this happens to me with just these few sources), don't give up - there is a simple solution. I have almost always (absolutely always in McDetti's case) found that by clicking on the original site URL just below the download button to go directly to the primary source site, I have no problem downloading the item successfully, again either with or without using GetRight. My apologies to McDetti for dragging his name into this. I do so only because (a) it's the only one I can specifically remember at present, and (b) he has some very nice freebies on offer and it would be a pity for people to miss out on them because of a similar problem. Since it works perfectly on his own site and there have been no plethora of "help" messages, I doubt very much it is anything to do with McDetti or the other authors who generously give their work for free - more likely some quirk of the Renderosity method of handling the hosted download and/or specific unknown settings on my browser (IE6). My thanks to McDetti for his personal assistance when I first encountered this problem and reported it to him.
