I know the answer to this...Bryce does not do periodic file back ups. Thus if my compy crashes...I have to go back to my last save. Please tell me I am wrong and that there is a back up file somewhere. Please?

If your on a mac, sometimes there is a rescued items folder in the trash. Sometimes if you are very lucky one of the items in the folder is bryce scene. :)

And if you're on a PC you can just about forget it, unless there are still some Bryce temp folders in your temp file. It's a hard life Claymor. 8) Catlin

I have found tmp files in the Bryce directory before, check and see if you have any and maybe(with a bit of luck) you can get your file back.

Do this. Name your scene my scene1. Next time you make a big change hit save as... It will automatically name it my scene2. Bryce has an automatic numbering for scene saves - use it and you will be safe. Scott

Eeeeeeee gads! I hate hearing about these. All I can do is sympathize but I'm sure that's not what you need nor want to hear right now. Good luck!

Sorry to hear, I just did the same, got into a zone & spaced it. Fortunatly I remembered most of what I did.
This should be on the Bryce FAQs also. Q:How often should I save my WIP. (we all know that one)

If you're lucky, Bryce might save a file called 'anythingitwants.tmp'. Rename it as 'anythingitwants.br5' and your work might be rescued.

There were no temp files. Bryce has been acting odd on me of late. It seems to be that if I leave it rendering and my computer wants to go into sleep mode, the whole thing freezes up, completely, to the point where I have to shut down power and reboot. But it doesn't do this consistantly in anyway whether it is file size or length of time left alone. Sometimes it goes along fine, sometimes not. So, if I am doing a bit of a test render and go to the kitchen for some goodies...I could come back and have lost it all. Which is what happened this time.

I think you might want to disable sleep mode..don't know your OS, but the later ones have something in Control Panel, or Desktop Properties, as it were. You can always turn off the monitor. And save early and often..;) been there, done that.

Then perhaps you should do as I do and disable sleep mode on your PC and also screensaver. This adds less stress to the puter and less likely to crash.
