Anybody who views my submissions here knows that I do almost exclusively XenoDream, which I love because it makes such realistic 3D objects.

But before I ever tried XD, I made quaternions in Fractal Explorer, starting with version 1.24. When we were beta testing FE 2.0 I found that my favorite quats were only possible because of a bug in 1.24 that had been fixed in 2.0. So I'm left with liking the images from 1.24, but the 2.0 interface is so much better that I don't want to go back just to make quats, which brings me to my questions.

First, I don't see many quaternions posted here. Are they generally not well received, or is it that you folks just haven't gotten interested in doing them?

Second, for those who do make quats, what software do you prefer? I've been to Hypercomplex.org and looked at their stuff, and QuaSZ looks like a very nice package. But there's no trial version, so I'd like to get some other opinions before I shell out the money.
