For those of you working on virtual Halloween costumes, I've completely rebuilt my Bushy Tail figure from scratch, and it should be up in Free Stuff within the next day or so.
Improvements to this new version include:
Enhanced flexibility -- 16 posable segments (compared to the original's 11 segments), with additional EasyPose ERC code. Or 17 segments, if you count the tail-tip.
(This was an early test render ... I've since corrected some joint issues.)
Material options -- 15 material regions for the transmapped fur permit bicolour patterns, stripes, and gradients. The tail also has textured geometry beneath the fur, if you don't need fur or can't use transmaps.
Styles -- full-tail morphs to alter width, fur length, bushiness, and shape. Geometry-swapping leonine tail-tuft.
Textures -- eight transmapped fur colours to choose from, and five additional underlying tail textures, with MAT poses. I'll provide a .uvs file later that permits users to quickly remap the tail to take Millennium Cat textures.

Wow! Such a generous gift, I'm sure we'll be seeing an abundance of cat people (most commonly the female kind) in galleries this Halloween. Thanks so much!

It's useful for more than just feline characters (or anthros, for that matter). Here's how it looks with the foxtail morph.
Most of these images were rendered in Poser 4, in case anyone's wondering. The tail works well in P5, also.

Wow, I can hardly wait. Finally a good looking tail for my catgirl!!! Thank you!!! Facehugger
Little_Dragon posted Thu, 23 October 2003 at 3:03 AM
This one was rendered in P5, with displacement to make the ring-sections stand out.
Little_Dragon posted Thu, 23 October 2003 at 3:10 AM
The initial release will have the following fur colours:
Black, blonde, brown, dark grey, orange, red, tawny, white
These can be mixed-and-matched however you please, and for additional variety you can change a material's diffuse colour to further tint the fur. I can't provide MAT files for every possible combination, but I'll include a small sampling to get you started.

No weirder than mine, I hope. It makes a nice Christmas wreath when bent into a perfect circle, with a green texture and bushiness at maximum.

Exceptional...just marvelous! Just one quick question, I know you mentioned one was done in P5...what about the others? Are they P5 also, or can we get that fur effect with plain ol vanilla P4 ?

L.D., You've done it again! I was meaning to look into doing a tail for the longest time but I get distracted so easily anymore. this will be great! Veritas, I think a new annual award should be made to honor L.D.'s terrific efforts in Poser. Perhaps we could call it "The Annual Dragon Awards" or something like that. Great work L.D.! Thanks, - TJ

You guys like Little Dragon's Bushy Tail 2.0? Just wait a few more days (or weeks) and see to what you can attach it! It's not exactly a secret, but then again, LD has not been so brash at to spam the forum with posts about it. He's left that despicable practice to me! ;-) Just kidding. At least I hope three images within a single thread and two gallery pictures do not classify as spamming. There's even stuff LD has hinted that I haven't seen, so I'll be as slack jawed as the rest of you when they arrive. We should all give Little Dragon a healthy round of applause. Not only does he seem to be a living search engine (I have this perverse image of a great wyrrm hardwired like a damned Borg to a rack of servers.), but he creates the kind of stuff few others would conceive. And not once have I known him to request any form of payment. People like LD are becoming a rare in all walks of life. Here's to you, Draconis Minimus! Sincerely, Bill

Dude. I so wish I had known this was coming when I did this commission. I used the Daz3D millenium cat for the tail, with all the body parts except for the tail itself invisible and then used Photoshop to 'fur brush' it out. You rule! Thank you so much for making this available! (Please note the linked image is really huge. And has bare breasts. Open at yer own risk. :) )rabbit_dawn3d posted Sat, 25 December 2004 at 5:53 PM
I've been curious. How do you make the fur bush out like that? Are there two figures there one that you can see and one that's totally transmapped? Just wondering, because I love the fur effect.
Little_Dragon posted Tue, 18 January 2005 at 12:34 AM
It's a single posable figure, rabbit_dawn3d, but there are several layers of transmapped mesh covering the tail and sticking out at an angle.

Thank you for this great tail!I'm having some trouble working with it though :(
How do you get the tail to curve like an S like that? I'm having a hard time trying to get the tail into any kind of bend.
What is this "Easy Pose" thing that you mention?
Plus when I parent it it doesn't stay with the figure when I pose the figure. I've positioned the tail where I want it (back by the hip area). Then I parented the tail to the figure's hip, but when I pose the figure, the tail doesn't follow the figure and stays where it was.
I started a thread about it and was linked here. You can see my screenshot in the above thread.
