I'm sorry if this is already old news to our friends in the U.K. but Digit magazine has the full version of Carrara 1.1 on their CD on sale in the States this month. I have been using it a short while and have already had a ball making stuff with the spline tool. The interface has a lot in common with the controls in Bryce and Poser( I personally have always enjoyed Kai Krauses' funky design) so the familiarity might lessen the learning curve for new modelers.
