Just trying to figure out how to texture this model with its original groups, tunic, leatherstrips and buttons. I want to use procedural shaders inside of Carrara 3 instead of using the UV map, just in this case.

Maybe there is a solution I don't think of. As you see the model ( a Centorion character I'm working on), the tunic is conformed to the character, the leatherstrips to the tunic. But when it is exported as obj to import, it is only one group for left shoulder from the character, left shoulder tunic and leather strips.

So, as I see it, it only possible to use the UV map then.

Searching for something clever.

Thanks,

Snekkis

I'm not to familiar with Carrara and its inner workings, but it sounds like it is using the grouping of the figure as opposed to the materials (lShoulder/lCollar as opposed to figernails/eyelash etc...). Two things I can think of that might fix it. One is uvmapper, another is grouper (in freestuff here). Have you experimented with different export options? Is this an obj. or a 3ds. export?

Yes, I think so to with Carrara. I'm not so familiar with it yet also. But I see something that I have forgotten, I did not get the export dialog options when I make the obj. I reinstalled and got it. I ticked everything and I got instead, hip1, hip2, hip3, etc. I have made the groups I want inside UVmapper, but is is only body groups that shows. I'll try Grouper and see what that is.
