Hi! We have just started a new web site with forums and galleries focused on all forms of illustrated entertainment. Comic books, graphic novels, illustrated stories, web based stories- you name it. We also have forums for writers along with forums for 2D and 3D artists. There is also a forum for linking up artists and writers for projects and places to show off your work. Pictures are pretty to look at but without words they are sort of limited, right? If you have an interest in doing this kind of thing, are a fan of it, or just want to find out the processes involved come on over and join us at Sic Ink. We NEED writers and we promise to be kind (grin). Tony Lanedialyn posted Mon, 27 October 2003 at 11:27 AM
Thank you, Tony!! I hope the writers here (many of whom are artists too) take a look at what you're doing over there. I've gone onto the forum and it looks to me like you have a great idea and a very comfortable atmosphere for promoting creativity.

Thank you, dialyn! We want a friendly, nurturing and comfortable place for our members. That is best for everybody involved. I hope that folks will intorduce themselves when they come to visit and tell us a bit about who they are and what they do. I noticed you mentioned where you are from. I'm semi-near there in Apple Valley. Hope the fires aren't near you. Things got a little tense up here yesterday afternoon and evening. Tony Lanedialyn posted Mon, 27 October 2003 at 11:49 AM
I'm in San Diego central...was ordered to stay away from work. My mother and brother live in the East County but, so far, the fire hasn't closed in on them. My director had to evacuate her house in Allied Gardens, and a coworker is ready to evacuate because she can see the flames from her house. Where I'm at, the sky is yellow and smells of smoke. Ash everywhere. I've never seen anything like it, and I've lived here all my life. But, on to something more interesting...is there a particular area of your forums where you'd like people to introduce themselves in????

Yes. The Ink Blot has sort of become the "meet and greet" area. It is a freewheeling general chatter area with no rules except no flaming and semi-good taste. There are other forums for posting web site invites and links and images for stores.dialyn posted Mon, 27 October 2003 at 12:12 PM
By the way, the little dog on your Ink Blot logo looks a lot like my Bella the terrible. Is that a papillion by any chance?

Thanks for the link! The more resources, the better.

Nope. The little dog is Mongo the attitudinal chuhuahua, sort of the board mascot.

Something I learned recently is that long hair chihuahuas and Paillions share ancestary, which is why they have some similar looks. My dear Bella is quite the little foxy dog. I'm sure Mongo would like her. :)

I included a little article about Tony Lane's website in the last issue of "Write Around the Block," which was just approved for downloading in Free Stuff today (November 11, 2003). I hope that people check out the possibilities. :)

Hmm, I guess I need to head over there, I just started working on a comic book thingy on my wimpy computer using Little Dragon's Furrette. (She's cute, and low enough res not to kill my whimpy computer, and everyone in the family wants the good computer, so I don't have much time on it. )

Brodart, a major supplier of books and other materials to public and school libraries, has a site dedicated to Graphic novels. www.graphicnovels.brodart.com. It is interesting to see how the attitude toward graphic novels is changing. Well, to me, anyway.
