Hey- Thanks Wenke for these and the great Kyoko Mk III hair textures!

Why is it necessary to have separate texture maps for simple color changes to a hair model? Can't the paint bucket too accomplish the color change just as effectively?

dolfijntjes posted Tue, 28 October 2003 at 5:14 PM

Thank you very much Wenke and no the paint bucket can't make the highlights in the hair

CrystalDragon posted Tue, 28 October 2003 at 5:23 PM

You could do it that way, pookah. I used to try and do that, but it often just didn't look right. If the base texture is to dark, the color doesn't show through. If the base texture is to light, it tends to look like the hair doesn't have any texture at all. Looks good, wenke! Thanks for pointing out this set of hair. ~DM

Oh wow, thanks for the link! I hadn't see this yet...it looks great!

Thanks all. So here is an example, how it looks, if you only change the color in poser. On the left the recolored tex map, on the right color changed in poser.

Thanks for pointing out the difference, Wenke. I also want to thank you for all of those wonderful free hair textures you've given us over the years. I've always said that if someone couldn't afford hair, they could rely on Kozaburo and Studio Maya for the hair; you for the textures and they'd be all set. Great work and keep it up! Brynna (wondering why it was necessary for someone to alter a vendor's promo in a fruitless attempt to make a point.)

I have to say I am a big fan of Wenkes work and the fact that it generously given free is amazing to me. I find it very disapointing however that people think its clever to ridicule. The post by pierrecolat is to me at least a clear attempt to try to look 'clever' and I certainly think it was very uncalled for to alter someones promo.....just out of interest how would you feel if I went to your gallery and grabbed a piece of your artwork, altered it and then reposted it here? it amounts to exactly the same thing..still feel clever?

Thanks NightFlyer for this comment, I think my english isn't good enough to make such a reply. There are some things I want to make clear. Its my decision to make 50 or 100 textures for hair. And if the zips are bigger than 30 MB, its my thing too. I pay for my site every month, there is no banner, no promotion, only a little link to my store. I don't say I give you free tex, so please buy my tex from my store. Perhaps they are not the best, but I love to paint them and if someone don't like them, don't download my tex.

Thank you very much for all your textures Wenke!! Both free and marketplace. I know that I certainly appreciate actual textures over simple in Poser color changes which make the hair look flat. These are just fantastic! Thank you again! -Em aka. nikitacreed

wenke...I always make it a point to grab your hair textures. It's obvious you put alot of work and love into them. And to give them freely..astounds me. I feel having a seperate map for each is much better than simply changing the settings in poser. They look more natural. And what I love the most about your textures, is the fact that you include those wonderful shade variations between colors. Saves me alot of work if a particular shade isnt exactly what I want:) keep up the good work. You'll be seeing me again at your site and browsing your store here:)
