Does anybody know how to add new categories to the Preset Objects Library in Bryce 4? The manual (page 136) says to select "Add Category", but I can't find that option anywhere. My User library category is getting huge and I'd like to move some objects into new categories. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Caligula posted Wed, 09 August 2000 at 3:51 AM
The manual is wrong. It was a planned feature but the product was released before the "add a category" feature was added. =-( Sarah

Not that this has anything to do with your question. But I've found the hard way that you should keep all models in the User category anyway. On occasions you corrupt data and have to reinstall you'll keep your models only if they are in User. It makes that file huge and unwieldy, but at least it restores the stuff to the library.

while this makes the user category very large you can add to the other categories as appropriate and cust and past over the stock preset folder from a backup I do a reinstall every few weeks from these backups made every 2 or 3 days.

I move the Bryce imported objects into booleans, and use imported objects and tutorials for imported objects. I use user for models I make myself and for temporary storage for models I'm using in a specific project.

Thanks you all for the answers and ideas. Maybe I'll export the objects I don't use much and archive them elsewhere to cut down User Category size. Thanks again for the quick responses. You guys are the best!
