Glad to hear that the forth-coming DAZ Studio will be able to read multiple Poser runtimes. In will also support 3rd Party plug-ins for stuff like Hair and other software 3D exports. With the next major new item probably being the Mil Dog, I can already see Coyotes howling at the moon and even Huskies pulling DOG SLEDS. A Hairy-Huskie seems distinctly on the possibility scale- so time to get ready for: MIL DOG TACK!Veritas777 posted Wed, 05 November 2003 at 5:59 PM

Hai-Gan had expressed interest in doing Dog Tack is someone would make a DOG SLED. It seems that there WAS a Poser dog sled around a few years back, but it no longer seems available.Veritas777 posted Wed, 05 November 2003 at 6:00 PM

Here's what Dog Tack actually looks like.Puntomaus posted Wed, 05 November 2003 at 6:03 PM
" Glad to hear that the forth-coming DAZ Studio will be able to read multiple Poser runtimes." Poser 5 does this already ;-)

The way to take your dog out for exercise and gets some pay-back for all that nice dog chow you buy! Seems that this would work for Roller-Bladers also!Veritas777 posted Wed, 05 November 2003 at 6:06 PM
Actually it sounds like it may do a LOT MORE than Poser 5, but I just wanted to know myself that it would read them since I don't think I will be getting Poser 5. Maybe I will wait until Poser 6 comes out- or see if Poser 6 gets merged into Carrara!!! (bye-bye- Curious Labs)

it sounds like it may do a LOT MORE than Poser 5 And, as we found out with P5, talk is cheap. Let's see the product before praising it to the skies, huh?

The dog sled was by cooler, and is still available in 3D Commune's Free Stuff. It includes a conforming harness for the Poser wolf.
As long as we're filling out our wishlists for the Millennium Dog, I'd like to see a worg/direwolf morph and a conforming saddle. But perhaps that can wait until DAZ develops a Millennium Wolf, instead.

"Actually it sounds like it may do a LOT MORE than Poser 5" What exactly? If you don't have P5 how will you compare the programs? It will have shaders, but P5 has them as well and I use them all the time. I just saw a render in the DAZ Forum made with D|S and it looked exactly like a P5 Firefly render. When it's out this month I will download and test it and see for myself.

Went over an got it, THANKS! A good place to start on some Sled Dog tack (or "gear" in sled dog parlance). I am betting that the Mil Dog will feature morphs (if not immediately- eventually) to become a variety of wolves and even beasts of various kinds. Robt Whiz is working on him, so he and DAZ have probably realized that a "DOG FREAK" morphable into various killer beasties would be a hot item also. I think HAIR in DAZ STUDIO will be tied into the LOOKS and marketing of these new Mil-Creatures. I would really like to see a Furry Huskie!

Nice links, thanks! Maybe I'll wait on the harness until the MilDog comes out.

Maybe if I repeat it often enough.... :sigh: Meanwhile, since the cat doesn't appear to have a few basic morphs (like the ability to spread its paws and sit upright with legs together), I doubt if the dog will fare much better. You can't have a killer dog if it can't take a healthy swipe at an annoyance. Carolly

Question: will D/S be compatable with P5 runtimes and characters created in P5?
Kelderek posted Thu, 06 November 2003 at 4:47 AM
As far as I understand, it will read the Poser 5 formats (such as pz3), which means that the answer to your question is "yes" However, I doubt that Poser native technology such as Dynamic Hair will be possible to use in DAZ|Studio. But let's see.

(My MilCat's Paws spread nicely!) But we certainly need riding tack for the Siamese Cat and would also like to see FOUR Siamese Cats pulling a Chariot (with Neftis Toon-Gal in control!) I doubt DAZ Studio will support P5 hair. I think this is where they will part directions with P5 since there are already other things they don't fully agree. Look for a new "native" DAZ Studio hair, and the very likely option of "High-End" hair plug-ins from people who make Lightwave hair plug-ins. That's what will make DAZ Studio a powerhouse- support for High-End Plug-ins and character imports to LW, MAX and C4D.
