Went to order Vue 4 and found the choice on the map to be UK or Europe.
I live in Ireland (the Republic) so I click on Europe and the price is 99 for the English Lang. version, which is fine. However, Ireland is not on the list of drop down European Union countries, Huh?
Went back to the UK page and yes Ireland is listed there, and those of us ordering from Ireland have to pay in UK (Sterling) even though we are are members of the Euro ().
So now I will have a currency conversion charge/cost on my CC.
I really think a company like Vue with its European heritage should be more aware of its enviorns.
As the French say "Vive La Republic!
How would USA online customers feel if they were shopping in a USA-based-site but classified under Canada or Central America and have to pay and convert through Canadian Dollars to get the product.
It just leaves a poor impression of the company.

I have tried at curiouslabs as if I wanted to buy Poser 5 (I have it already). I took my address in Paris and if I would buy, I would have to pay 71 $ for shipping!!!! That's crazy.
gebe posted Sat, 15 November 2003 at 2:52 AM
BTW Benettor, if you buy Poser for the full price, you would have to pay the shipping too:-(. I did so and it came very expensive, because I also had to pay the VAT when the object came to my house!! This is the problem of most European countries. Guitta

gebe posted Sat, 15 November 2003 at 5:13 AM
The reason is that they send if by a "private" transporter, not by normal mail. And these transporters (UPS etc) are very expensive. On the other side, they are very sure too. With normal mail you never know if you get your object (my experience).
Benettor posted Sat, 15 November 2003 at 5:16 AM

gebe posted Sat, 15 November 2003 at 5:24 AM
Me too for Vue. But at curiouslabs apparently we have no choice. Only one choice for me, the one for 71 $:-(. You know that Poser 3 was for free in many magazines a while ago. If you cannot afford P5 right now, maybe you may have a look in all sorts of computer magazines. I have one for free, but it is in French language, this would not help you, I think, otherwise I could send it to you. And there is no book of course.

I guess I must have caught Curious Labs at an, uncharacteristically, sensible momement when I bought Poser 4 (July 2002). It shipped from an agent in Ireland, got here (the UK) in 3 days and no extra tax to pay. How's this for sensible though? If I download an ESD upgrade from P4 to P5 from the European site it's 169 euro (approx. $189), from the US site it's $119 (approx. 101 euro). Are the phone line between here and the US much cheaper than those between here and Germany or something? John

Benettor, the German site is the web store for European customers, if you can get into the US purchase area - as the offer link allows - you can get some much better prices. I was just about to upgrade from Poser 4 to 5 - e-download, I don't really want the manual - for 169 Euro but, thanks to this link, I've just dowloaded for 101 Euro - saving 40%! Thanks Guitta!

Just to add to the confusion, I've just received a mail shot from Eovia. It makes special upgrade and sidegrade offers to Carrara Studio 3, plus a separate Poser 5 sidegrade from any Eovia product. The cost of the Poser 5 sidegrade is 199 (incl. VAT) plus 10 post and package. As this was addressed to me as an "Eovia user", it looks as though it even applies to registered users of one of the free versions of Amapi that were issued on various cover disks not so long ago - that'c certainly the only product of theirs that I own. I have yet to confirm that, but it could be another interesting alternative way to purchase Poser 5. If any other UK user in a similar position wants to check up on the situation re the free Amapi versions, there is a phone number of 01526 352524, or email frank@eovia.com, or I guess visit the web site at www.eovia.com

I got Poser 5 on Ebay (Used once and not yet registered) for $100. Everything was still with it (even the ads that CL sticks in the box with it, and the cellophane wrapper the CD sleeve was in) As soon as it arrived I was able to register it with CL as the original owner. All that for only $100 + about 12.50 shipping.

Thats why i didn't answered over the weekend. I wanted to double check. I did nothiing special - that was the trick. I went through the given link to the page, clicked onto the Mac version and went out.In the end i was surprised that nobody asked me for a Vue serial number or anything like that. I simply clicked on it and went. In the beginning fedex was greyed out, so i reloaded the page - as far as i can remember. I only remember that i was surprised, that there was no price difference between fedex ground and fedex 2 days delievery. I tested that. So i decided to order it like i did. What you see here is the confirmation email from CL. I will try it again tomorrow morning. I must run now. Who will buy the second copy from me if it works? Lol.

I feel for you guys. I got an e-mail from them with these offers. I went to the site and did find the links but it took a lot of button pushing and hair pulling. When i found it I couldn't think of why I was going to get it because I had a poopload of questions to ask and didn't know who to ask. One of the vendors here suggested I come to this forum and very carefully word out my needs and see what got tossed back at me. I won't ask it here though I don't wanna get flamed. But I found that the best way to get around any web service snafus is to find a good phone number or e-mail address and barrage someone in their customer service departments with all my gripes and questions. You get a few things done this way: 1. something in writing they have to honor. 2. customer satisfaction...if lucky and persistent. 3. an opportunity to hear what needs to be said and/or heard from the horse's mouth leaving less room for conjecture and hyperbol. E-mail someone there from the site itself and voice your questions and I am sure if they want to sell you a product you will hear from someone...eventually. it may not be what you want to hear/read but at least you can say you tried making a difference.

Ok, I, think i know now what i have done differently to you all. I tried it again and it worked again. I think it simply is a wrong programmed html page. I ordered a copy and checked out. When i came to the delievery page, everything was greyed out, exept the international fedex thingie - $ 71.xx . I didn't clicked it and went on. Of course the porzess sent me back to select something - AND, ta ta, all is selectable. So i selected the 5$ shipment. Now i am curious what CL will do - and what they will charge me for the delievery. But i promise, i will fight hard and i have a legal protection insurance if they want to charge more!

Re Poser5 in Europe I was horrified when I saw the price difference between US / UK Amazon.com - Poser5 full boxed - $139 (on offer and has been for months) Amazon.co.uk - Exact same product - 349.99 (That's $594.91) (never been on offer - ever) Now, add to that the tax. US (I think around 12% is high?) = $16.68 (on the $139) That works out at $155.68 (91.58) UK (17.5% tax) = 61.25 ($114.11) So the UK deal works out at 411.24 ($699.05) It's not shipped yet and there is a difference of a whopping $543.37 (319.68) Same company - different country.

A after thought I had is to really look carefully at the date on your charge card. It's possible the charge was not instant and happened on the next day if that's the case well then you did pay too much and deserve a rebate. I'm sure E-On is reasonable though. It's like say you bought Vue 4 today and Vue 5 came out tommorrow. I'm sure they will let you have the new version if there the same price.
