I am working on a fairie for MayaDoll and I am looking for a an insect wing texture to put on the wings. A high res dragon fly wing photograph, for instance, would be great. Can anyone help? marty

Try the DAZ free archives - look for the Universal Wings and Texture Maps - there are Dragonfly wings there. No mats tho, so you'll need to apply them manually.

I also made an improved transmap for them, available thru this article link - New Universal Wings Dragonfly transmap

Drop me an i.m. when you get your image done :) I'd love to see how it all looks.

btw - there are two Universal Wings free downloads - the one I'm referring to is towards the bottom of the page.

Check out this site for a nicely organized layout for the entire insect kingdom... Lots of great reference pics which can be used to create realistic wing veining and coloration patterns...

Then, later, there's ...running. And....screaming."

Lucy Fur: The link you gave me http://www.renderosity.com/homepage.ez?Who=Lucy%5FFur&ViewArticle=1221, may be exactly what I am looking for, I may be able to do some cutting and pasting and stuff to get general paterns I need. May I do this for commerical purposes? marty

Lucy Fur: I did a quick copy and paste and here is how it looks, I would have to a lot more editing and painting to get it exactly the way I want it. I would like the wing to be continuesly clear through out the wing, not half the wing dark. Is there any versions of this texture that is consistant through out? If not, I will do some editing to get it consistant. marty

The wings looks like cicada wings rather than dragonfly wings - are those the ones you're using from the Universal Wings? Or do you like the dragonfly wings & want to just use the bottom wings? If so, the transparency map can be adjusted. On a lil side note - due to your cute lil figure having a little bit of nipple showing from under her suit, you might want to check the 'nudity' button. ;)

The wing shape was copied from the actual cartoon figure that I modeled this after. I say this because you may be refering to the wing shape when you said they look like cacada wings. What I am interested in is latice work in the wing. I knew that the latice in a dragon fly wing was most close to what I was looking for, for the texture on the wings. How can the transparency map be adusted? I clicked the nudity button when posting this message, I hope that helps.

insomniaworks, I have this one a friend sent to me, a number of years ago, scanned from an actual dragonfly he found in his garden. The original is roughly 1800 X 1200 & is 6 megs (bmp format) If you're interested let me know & I can upload it to one of my FTPs & give you a private d/l link

Thank you, but what i am looking for is something with clear throughout the wing. Not with splotches of color. I will use what you already gave me to do it. thank you marty
