I took these of my wife today. I have about 35 images to play with and this is just the first one I am working on. The question is which do you feel is better? I like the B&W (above) but my wife likes the color version (below). Opinions? Thanks! Magick Michael

Color version. Only cropped (and desaturated with slight tonal changes for B&W) in PS. Color is the original colors.

IMHO.... the BW & crop out the bedspread in the background. Wonderful portrait Michael.... the mood seems melancholy..

I like the b/w. I think it fits the the mood/expression she has on her face....like melancholy (sp?) Jack

Michelle, I tried the crop you suggested but it doesn't work for me. The neatly made (but empty) bed symbolizes, to me, the reason she is melancholy. It adds to the feel of the shot, I think. However! You did get me thinking (which is why I asked in the first place). I found that 2 shots later, Sharon moved her hand and slightly altered her mouth just a tiny bit. This gave a different mood to the shot. I dragged both the *Hue & Saturation* and the *Color Balance* layers over to the other image, cropped as you suggested and... Thoughts everyone? Anyone!? The lasy one works well for a portrait. The first could work if you could crop from below the horizontal on the sash window. I like B/W in these type of shots, mainly because I think it helps to set the mood.

In looking again, at the new shot and the other... I agree with you Michael....the bed does add to the mood, I see how the bed also balances the shot.... I like this other very much too and it looks fabulous in BW...
