i created an arch in illustrator then imported the paths into the spline modeler. i rendered with the hybrid, but the curves arent really smooth theyve got more of a flat line to them. what can i do to make them more rounded?

Can you post an image of what you've got in the spline modeler? You can choose the smooth point tool and pull out a point on a line to smooth it out. -Kix

I found that I had to change the Surface Fidelity on the Geometry menu to get smother curves. I use around 200%. this does increase the polygons for the model. Cheers Neil

like this one..id already rendered and finished the project..lol..the arch has a point at the top and one to each side to make the curver and then one at the bottom...i duplicated it then reduced the new one in size..so the inner line is the same as the outer..it just didnt render as smoothly as i thought it would...ill try the upping the surface fidelity next time to see how that helps..:)

this was another example..its just a simple cylinder i kinda smushed into a 'coin'then made a shader for the side of it with the logo..even the outside of it didnt seem to render completely round...

I've noticed Illustrator paths get "unsmoothed" on import; the same path created with beziers in Carrara is smooth (pipeline, centered), but the Illustrator path needs to be redone to smooth it. Otherwise I suppose you could convert to vertex object and use subdivision smoothing level 2 if you want to keep the polygon count low.

hmmm..ok..thanks for the advice...maybe we need a plug in that will import illustrator curves smoothly....=)..lol
