It just looks like deformity to me. "Chakra" is Sanskrit for "wheel" and is the name of a sacred object that the Hindu god Vishnu carries. Best find what Hindus think of this re-use of the word. (I am not Hindu myself.) See at this link.

lhiannan posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 8:35 AM

I know what Chakra means, Anthony. If I want to call her "Mary Magdalene", "Sandal of God" or even "Mjolnir" I will. (I'm saving the original suggestor of the name from flaming). Lhiannan

She is sooooo beautiful. I can't wait for her to become available. 8) Catlin

Foxseelady posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 12:11 PM

She's beautiful, I don't have the cat woman, but I really like this! Umm I don't want to stir this up, but Chakra, near as I can tell; is just her name...nothing more nothing less.....oie we'd better watch what we call our children these days if people are going to be so sensitive! A good example of how silly things can get, my children no longer get Christmas break, it's winter break and our city doensn't have a Christmas tree downtown, it's the Holiday tree! Years of tradition now are consider incorrect....it's sad really.

igohigh posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 12:22 PM

Foxselady; I fear we must also stop refering to 'people' as this suggests we are all the same. For now on it's 'individuals', and calling them children is demeaning and suggests they are 'lessors' so for now on we must call them 'younger individuals'. So: Happy Holiday to all you individuals and hope you all enjoy a sit around the Holiday Tree with your younger individuals this year ;p lhiannan; she just getts more and more purrrrdy each time I see her!!!

Strixowl posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 12:42 PM

What about the centuries of "Pagan Tradition", that were changed, like,Yule to Christmas,Yule Tree/Log to the Chrismas tree and the candles to colored electric lights. And at one point it was a 12 day season (not just one day you hoped you could get off work),with the Winter Solstice(Yule)being the day of celebration of the "Rebirth of the Sun", not the "Birth of the Son" as in the "Christian Tradition". Another "example of how silly things can get". Foxseelady, please don't take offence just expanding on examples. I have a very good Hindu friend (East Indian), who has a cat named Chakra & another named Karma. Sacredness can be,joyful, joking etc. IMO. As I was once told "Don't be so spiritually minded, your of no earthly good". Sorry for the ramblings.

mondoxjake posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 5:04 PM

Years ago there was a western gunslinging novel named "Chakra", and I don't think there was any reference to Hindus or had anything to do with sacred wheels. This is not a flame against any other comments here, just a general bit of trivia ;p ...and to get back on-topic, is the texture going to be available somewhere soon?

Lyrra posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 5:22 PM

yes as soon as Lhiannon FTP's it over it will be up on my Guest downloads at my webpage. So probably by the weekend As for the rest of the discussion ... I had a very good female friend whose parents had named her Loki. Thankfully, it was just a name. Likewise with Keph-Ra (who was of polish ancestry) Anyone who deals with 25-30 years olds in america has gotten used to weird names because 'my parants were hippies'. I think all Lhinnanon had in mind was a name suitable for the exotic Siamese, and nothing more deep or political than that.

mondoxjake posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 5:30 PM

Thank you, Lyrra for the feedback...I will be watching for it. For sure the Poser kingdom is running short of names...I think I have at least 2 Saras, 1 Sarah...and not sure how many other duplicate names in my Poser folders. Won't be long until we will be back with the Betty, Jane, Marilyn, Fred, Bill and Henry names at this rate!

lhiannan posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 8:22 PM

Chuckle Speaking of names, I should have chosen something like "Ann" or "007" for my user name... Lhiannan is a crazy thing to spell, isn't it? (If it helps to remember, it is pronounced La-nan and is Celtic... Oh, wait a minute!! It is indeed Celtic, a vampire faerie... Shouldn't use it, fear for offense and all) Look, my intention certainly isn't to offend a single soul... If I could go through life without causing pain to anyone, I would. But, I can't. Someone somewhere will be offended no matter what I do. Such is life. I think the word chakra is a wonderful sound and knowing how it is tied to points on the soul helped me decide (based on someone else's suggestion) to use it to name this character I am providing. Perhaps from now on I will stick to good Christian names because that this the only religion it is ok to trash for some unknown reason. Be on the look-out for Malachi, Ecclesiastes and Trinity! Geesh, Lhiannan is tired tonight... She's had a full day of people in the "Holiday Spirit", including those who run a red light and curse at ME as if I'd done something wrong and be called stupid because someone couldn't remember their PIN for THEIR debit card... Lyrra, I've sent Chakra to you... I accidently sent the head shot instead of the thumbnail, so you should see both images and the zip file.

mondoxjake posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 8:44 PM

Lhiannan, we olde Scotsmen knew how to pronounce yer 'nime'! As to names, "A rose by any other name..."

Lemurtek posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 9:44 PM

She's beautiful, Lhiannan! You did a great job on the furryness! Not that a guy with a name like Lemurtek is much of an authority on approppriate names, but I think Chakra is a fine name! :) Regards- Lemurtek

igohigh posted Tue, 02 December 2003 at 12:02 AM

singing Ya can't please everyone, So ya gotta please yourself... well lhiannan, being a friend of a friend of a friend of an aquaintence who knows friend of a sister of a brother who once knew a person who is a vampire faerie, I should propably be greatly offended by your name... ...uh wait, just remembered, I don't have any friends... I still think she's purrrrrrdy! ;p

randym77 posted Tue, 02 December 2003 at 5:57 AM

She's gorgeous! Nice kitty! Thank you. Though I think it would be kind of neat if the tips of her breasts were dark, too. Siamese cats are dark wherever their skin is cool. That's why kittens are born pure white...and why male Siamese cats have those "fifth points." ;-)

For the "I can't wait!" crowd Chakra can now be downloaded on my site, on the Guest Downloads page. Lhiannon has not yet received my IM that Chakra is uploaded, so I'm not sure whats going on.

lhiannan posted Wed, 03 December 2003 at 4:32 PM

Seems the IM didn't come, but at any rate I just got home from work, so here I am. :D Oooh, it's really odd to see MY download up. hehehe... Oh, and Lyrra, it's Lhiannan (LOL!, it's ok, I'm just happy the zip is up). randym77, feel free to edit the texture map as you see fit. In my personal view, fur covers the nipples like on a real cat ( I don't own a Siamese, I just think they look really really nifty) and so don't show

lhiannan posted Wed, 03 December 2003 at 4:40 PM

Ok, I have submitted Chakra to Freestuff. Keep your eyes peeled.

Lyrra posted Wed, 03 December 2003 at 4:47 PM

oops ..did I misspell your name? sorry, thats the way my granma spelt it. I've edited my page and the next time I upload it will be fixed. Let me know if there's anything else you want hosted wink You're in good company.

lhiannan posted Wed, 03 December 2003 at 5:17 PM

Hehe... Well, if I know my zips will have a happy home, that might just spur me to get those Koshini and Ichiro textures finished :D Thanks Lyrra, and thanks to all who enjoy this texture set!

LOL! I love that pic. Looks like you were making your own cat people long before the MilCat came out.

lhiannan posted Wed, 03 December 2003 at 8:37 PM

Oh yeah... Lemurtek's the original Poser hybrid master (I still steal the legs off your models with the digitigrade feet) The image gave me a good chuckle (well, more of a snortle). :D

mondoxjake posted Wed, 03 December 2003 at 8:37 PM

Lhiannan: Thanks for the great character, very nice. Lyrra: Thanks for putting it up. This was my first visit to your site [bookmarked now], I didn't realize that besides computer graphics you also are a gifted artist in traditional media. Some good stuff there.

Lyrra posted Wed, 03 December 2003 at 9:58 PM

Mondoxjake blush why thank you. Glad you liked 'em. I've got more to put up as soon as I have .5 spare seconds to jpg and thumbnail 'em. My inking style has evolved I think... but its hard to say from this side of the pen, you know? Lyrra

elizabyte posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 12:19 AM

"Happy Holiday to all you individuals and hope you all enjoy a sit around the Holiday Tree with your younger individuals this year" I object to this. I find the whole idea of a holiday tree offensive. You murder a perfectly nice tree and bring it inside, where you slowly torture it to death for a while, keeping it alive artificially, while dressing it up like a tart. In many cases, the tree is placed so that it can look outside longingly as it slowly wastes away... And then the poor tree isn't even used for anything, but just thrown out like so much garbage. You TREE HATERS should be ASHAMED of yourselves!!! (Note: If you have an artifical tree, I withdraw all objections and hereby wish you a fun Tree Humiliation Ritual.) bonni (no, I don't do the tree thing, too much hassle and too many cats and children ;-)

igohigh posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 1:16 AM

;D My 'tree' lives in the back yard and has for several years now. I sting popcorn on it for the birds, we get a lot of strange birds here in the south as they come down to get out of the cold - even parrots, conures, and parakeets! I started this many years ago when my daughters where little and we would take the stinged popcorn and barries up into the mountains and decorate a tree and then have a picinet while watching the birds feed. Now their all grown up and I'm too lazy so I just planted a pine out back... Sorry cats, Godzilla thinks your too odd looking and chases them all away...but he likes Mia!! ;p

randym77 posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 5:22 AM

We use Norfolk pines, grown in our yard. They grow back when you cut off the tops, about a foot a year, so if you have four or five trees, you always have a Christmas tree each year. And we do reuse the Christmas tree...as cat toys. We put the tree out in the yard after Christmas (all tinsel removed, of course), and neighborhood cats go nuts. They love climbing around in it, for some reason.

lhiannan posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 9:03 AM

Prevention of Cruelty to Food?? LOL!! Oh, just wait to they see me get near a nice porterhouse or ribeye grilled to medium rare, and if there's a bottle of A1 and some sauteed mushrooms nearby... wipes drool from chin This has nothing to do with Poser does it? Oh well, even Poserites need to have fun :D
