Still Life is defined as the portrayal of something inanimate: a representation of inanimate objects, for example, fruit, flowers, or food, often but not limited to domestic settings. For centuries painters have used still life as both a visual exercise and as a way of exploring the symbolism of objects. The earliest photographers found similar virtues in still lifes. Whether approached as an experiment with light, shape, color and composition, as a study in meaning, or as a combination of the two, still life offers the photographer both a learning experience and a vehicle for his or her imagination. Shall have a page up soon.... in the meantime feel free to view the wonderful entries from November.
