I feel like I am going in circles with my low res versus reduced res Viki questions. Am I the only one? Below is a cut/paste of my attempt by e-mail to get clarity. Perhaps someone in the forum will understand what I am asking and can help resolve the matter, or at least will find all this entertaining! ORIGINAL MESSAGE TO DAZ FROM ME I downloaded Motura's Viki1 low res boy MT from freestuff. But it only has a Cr2 file in it. I got V1 mesh from computer arts, but I am inexperienced enough that I don't know how to think about using a lonely cr2 file with her. Motura wrote me that s/he does not know english and SUggested that I write the forum for help, but that it should work. A forum member also suggested that it should work. I wrote the forum and there is confusion about whether low res is the same as reduced res? Can you clarify? I placed the Motura CR2 file in its own new folder under figures as someone suggested and loaded the computer arts viki automatically in "DAZ people." When I click on my new folder I only get can't finds and out of memory messages for feedback. So no luck. Perhaps a key question is do I have viki1 low res or not from the computer arts disc? Or am I wasting my time? I also got an offer from you by e-mail for a reduced res viki and michael. I tried the links but did not find the models. But I did not persist because I thought perhaps I already had the free models on my computer arts disc. Do I? If not, how do I get the models offered in the e-mail? Can you please clarify the situation for me? THE RESPONSE FROM DAZ TO THE ABOVE E-MAIL NOW FOLLOWS A ".cr2" file by itself will not work, unless you have the rest of the files for the figure installed. Low resolution is a detail-scaled version of a figure, meant for slower computers or people who didn't want to download the full version. The reduced resolution is a pared down version that we've been distributing free in selected places. The reduced and low-res figures aren't interchangable. When the link takes you to the free archive, are you able to log in to the page, then try the link again? If you aren't authenticated, the page does ask you to log in before you can continue to the free download. Vicky Tolonen Technical Support MY RESPONSE TO DAZ'S RESPONSE ABOVE NOW FOLLOWS Sorry, but this still does not help! One problem is that logging in after I click on the link still does not get me to the free v and M meshes, but only entry to the weekly model and the archives. And I cannot find any v or m meshes in either place. But anyway, it is not clear that I even need them if they are RR as stated in the e-mail offer, and if RR is not the same as low resolution. So if I understand correctly that I would need low resolution then how is it available anyway? I can't find it anywhere. Moreover there is the question of why some people are telling me that the cr2 file should work alone in a folder, but you say it will not. Can you clarify? THE END (SO FAR)
