Hi all, I got a question regarding an issue I've stumbled in during a Poser job I did this weekend... I imported a background image for reference purposes. When I finished with the posing and ligthning I wanted to remove the image to change the size/resolution of the window as well as the rendered image. But I couldn't find a way to do so except storing the final figure and lights in a library and opening a new document. :( Not where user friendly though. Is there a better solution to improve this workflow? Thanks, Phil

Yes, you can remove a background image. I don't have Poser on this machine, but I think it's under Display. You can hide or remove the background image, change the color, etc. To change the size of the window, I think it's under Window.

Clink (Display)-(Clear Background Image) it's about 2/3 the way down. The other is (Windows)-(Document Window Size) It's on the bottom.

Right, select "Clear Background Picture" under the Display menu.

Cool! Looks like I was kind of blind last weekend...blushing Better should have taken longer breaks from staring at the screen, but the job had to be finished because of a dealine. LOL. Many thanks for your help! Phil

And the same menu option is in Poser 4 as well, which helps me with a scene I'd messed up a bit -- I checked through my collection of sky backgrounds, selected the one that looked just right, and discovered I'd used the one that wasn't the same proportions as my work screen.

Gotta get a round tuit so I can read the rest of the manual. Ah well, now I can twirl the scene round the way I wanted it without having to "letterbox" the final render.
BTW, does it actually remove the b/g pic from the scene file, or just make it invisible?

The (Show Background Picture) shows and hides it. The (Clear Background Picture) deletes it.

Remember that the downside of using the background picture is it will always have it's resolution matched to whatever your work window is set to. So if you do a final render to another window at a larger size, your background will still be the resolution it was for the work window. For doing high-resolution backgrounds, uses the one sided square and apply your background picture to that as a texture. Or use something like Nerd's background tool.

Again many thanks for these lots of replies! :) @Sirkrite: For high resolution renders there's also the possibilty to do the render with a white (or black) background and save the result as an PSD file (Photoshop). Afterward you can import the figure/scene into any background, since Poser saves the PSD-file with a alpha channel included. :) Phil
