Great interview. She's a grand lass. Anyone who will make a model onion on request has to be some kind of special. We often talk about people who are an asset to the community, but this lady is the real deal.

If it weren't for the fact that she lives in Denmark, I'd swear that she was my 9th grade World Cultures teacher.
That is of course assuming that my 9th grade World Cultures teacher hadn't aged in the past 15years.
Her class was so entertaining, I spent two years in it before she made me move on.
My favorite is the doggie poo. It is a very versatile item, believe it or not.

Actually she speaks Much Too Good English to be Danish! Danish ALWAYS talk with a Danish accent! Where's her accent? I think she was planted here by the Glactrons from Morphos X to lull Renderositians into a sense of relaxation- and then once we are snoozing by our computer monitors, full of Eggnog, she will unzip her FAKE Danish character and leap out to eat our brains and take over cities and take control of our Music CD collections. She is probably sending secret coded messages right now through that FAKE interview broadcast no doubt from an orbiting Morphis X Star Cruiser hovering behind the Sun!

as long as she continues making those great morphing tin cans and can supply some java for the danish... we can probably rest at ease for a bit

After all the great things you've made for us, you're welcome to take over my CD collection any time. But I'm warning you, there's some dodgy stuff in there. :) Among my friends, the one who has the best English of us all is Danish. And the one who is the most difficult to understand is also Danish. Go figure. :D
TrekkieGrrrl posted Tue, 09 December 2003 at 3:54 AM
:o) I lurv dodgy stuff. I think. As for the danish/english bit, remember that since Denmark is such a tiny country with only 5.000.000 inhabitants we're mor or less "forced" to learn some foreign languages. And since german grammar is impossible for anyone but germans and english is fairly easy, guess which language we "all" speak? Of course we also get bombarded with english and american tv and commercials (culture even) we hear a lot of english all day long. And Danish TV does NOT dub movies and such (well for the kids yeah but not otherwise) so we get it all with subtitles. And that also helps to learn english, and also to a degree how to pronounce it. I'm not sure how easy it is to understand me, as I rarely SPEAK to english-speaking peeps. I like to think I'm easy to understand though :o)

How I wish they didn't dub English movies for German TV. I so much prefer subtitles, as so many pronunciation nuances and puns get lost in translation. Hm...is living in Denmark expensive?
TrekkieGrrrl posted Tue, 09 December 2003 at 7:05 AM
Stewer: YEP! Take the VAT alone, it's 25% where I believe Germany has 18%, right? That's the reason btw for our monthly "pilgrimage" to Flensburg L Lots and lots of danes go there to shop :o) I believe it's cheaper to get a satellite dish then, and get danish TV that way LOL

Way off the subject of your greatness, but what does the VAT go for??? Do you have other taxes as well? Property tax, sales tax, etc??? You have universal healthcare and things like that??? I'm paying 33% of my income here in the US for taxes and benefits...$360/month for medical/dental..that's out of my paycheck... The tax on my house and property is $3400/year....plus pay 5.5% on every purchase made...other than drugs and food items. Also taxes on just about every thing else...gasoline, liquor, etc....

"german grammar is impossible for anyone but germans and english is fairly easy" That's weird. Since a lot of Americans can't seem to learn English...(embarrassed grin). I found German (spoken) somewhat easy to learn...being a polysylabic tongue. But, as they say, if you don't use it you lose it. Been out of Germany for nearly 20 years now. But back to the incredible "erny"...I sucked up her trash freebies long ago (and "forced" her into starting a public wishlist so I could "repay" her...hehe). I've watched her "pop" out a mesh for several people who posted a request in the forum. She's a gift to the community. BTW, when I visited Denmark, I was surprised at all the military vehicles and soldiers I saw on maneuvers (sp?). A small country but they are OBVIOUSLY working on world dommination...LOL.
TrekkieGrrrl posted Tue, 09 December 2003 at 9:28 AM
Dave-So.: Yes we pay a load of other taxes as well. First of all approx 47% - 60% of our salary is paid in taxes before we even get the money. I pay the 47% coz I have a fairly low wage. 60% are for only the very rich. Then property taxes and special taxes on cars, petrol, sugar, lightbulbs and a lot of other strange objects... BUT then of course we do get a lot for free (though our current government is working hard to destroy that...) We do have free hospitals and doctors of all kinds, except for dentist where we pay I think 66% or so of the cost (that's a guesstimate) Schools, colleges and universities are free as well, daycare of any kind is paid partially by the users. My eldest kid lives in an institution/home where we also pay nothing, on the contrary, she gets clothes and pocket money there. Most danes love to bitch and mourn over the "incredibly high taxes" but they seem to forget what we get in return :o) Chuck Evans. About the military: I think you've either been "unlucky" or just visited a part of denmark where there are army barracks/camps. Here there are no soldiers at all. But yeah we are secretly working on World Domination! We need to take revenge becourse of all the cannibals world wide who eat danish for breakfast!!! (btw "danish" isn't called danish here, it's called "Wiennese pastry")

The odd thing is that people sound the way they type, not the way they look. I can recognize people at conventions when certain speech patterns and rhythms pop out.
TrekkieGrrrl posted Wed, 10 December 2003 at 5:02 AM
I guess you're right, Carolly. Some people both type and talk in similar ways. Some use lots of periods. Or sorta uh.. er.. well.. you know.. kinda like look for words. And then there's all us foreigners who speak really weird ;o) Actually I write english faster than I speak it. It may seem silly, but first: I type pretty fast, and second: the speed in which I type matches the speed in which I translate my thoughts (should I get some) into english. When I speak, I usually speak fast, and when I then have to speak a foreign language, I get this stumbeling sorta speech, it's like my mouth is ahead of my thoughts (no cheapo remarks here LOL) Can't you attend a convention in Denmark? I'd love to meet you :o) (That goes for the rest of you too of course!)
