Has anyone seen a model that will work in vue of a mississippi steam boat. A model for poser would be ok as well.

Have looked high and low and not one to be found on all the sites I have visited. :o)

Attached is picture of General Jackson that is located in Nashville, Tn. This is what I am looking for.

Boy that sure is pretty....large too...Sharen

iloco posted Thu, 11 December 2003 at 5:33 PM

It sure is large Sharen. I took the ride on it a couple yrs ago. Well worth the time it takes if anyone ever in Nashville Tn. The Picture is only for reference. A steamboat model doesn't have to be exactly like the one in attached image. There were smaller ones than the one I have shown.

I looked in my library and this is all I could find. It's listed as "padlboat.cob" (Truepace file) Unfortunately, I don't remember were I got it from. It may not even have originally been a cob file, but I'm sure that "padlboat" is it's original name, as I never use abbreviations when a remane files. I'll see if I can locate were I got it from. It's likely free unless it was part of a paid collection, since I've never bought just a single ship of any type. SMT

That looks great. Let me know if it is a free one and you want to share. :o) If its not free maybe a link to where it can be found would be appreciated. :o)

mayber you look at www.turbosquid.com? Or at http://www.DEESPONA.COM But they will not be cheap - be prepared. If it exists! Ah, found it (turbosquid): http://www.turbosquid.com/HTMLClient/FullPreview/FullPreview.cfm/ID/151483/Action/FullPreview BUT: $ 107.50 It is the one from De Espona. Have a look at their collection. It looks fantastic!!! If anybody thinks about a Christmas present for me, this would be it - their model cds. Only 700 $ (or Euro). Maybe you start collecting!!!

One day your ship comes in - but you're at the airport.

You can buy a great book with 2 CDs packed with objects, called 500 3D Objects by Julius Wiedermann. Volume One contains a wonderful steamship, like the one at Turbo. Well worth the price which is very reasonable. You can find Volume 2 at Amazon now and I am sure Volume 1 is out there too somewhere. :) Irene

No luck yet on identifying where I got the paddle boat. I'm going to look through my "bought" CD's. If I don't find it there, then it's probably free and I don't think anyone will mind if I send it to you. -SMT

wabe that model of the Mississippi Queen is one fine model. I guess for me being a hobbist it is little pricey for what I was wanting to do with it. Maybe one of the modelers will see and make a model available for us hobbist. Irish will check on the Volume 1 500 objs Book this week end at barnes and noble. Thanks everyone for your help. :o)

well, why do you think i offer the cd package as a christmas present (for a real wealthy friend - if there are any)? Too expensive for me too. But there models are extra class! I only wanted to give you all options (i know)

You can't go wrong with the 500 Model Book...the models there are De Espona. Here's a pic of the Mississippi Steamboat. :)

iloco posted Fri, 12 December 2003 at 9:38 AM

"lol" i been drooling over that steam boat model all morning. It is a first class model. I didn't even find a wish list on their site. :o( I am curious if a person buys a model and given the choice between LW file and a 3DS file which would be the better of the two for using in Vue. You can tell I don't know much about modeling. :o)

ShadowWind posted Sat, 13 December 2003 at 11:58 AM

What format are the models in? I was going to buy the DeEspona set awhile back when it was only $500 at his web site and they were only in Max format, which I could not find a way to convert to Vue without buying 3DS Max, which I don't want to do just to use some models... ShadowWind

ShadowWind posted Sat, 13 December 2003 at 11:59 AM

At least not the free sample .max files from his set (the Boxer for example) he had put up on one of the sites...

iloco posted Sat, 13 December 2003 at 11:06 PM

After ready this thread and seeing the Mississippi Steam boat is in 3ds max format at Turbosquid web site will it open in vue. Will the models that are on the cd that Irish mentioned open in vue. Has anyone used these models and might be able to give little more detail about there use, especially using Vue. No use me getting the cd and book if I can not use the models in Vue. :o)

Here's two quick images, objects taken directly from CD and imported into Vue. I cannot confirm they all import this easily but the ones I've used so far do and they are in 3ds format.

I have that book with the cd's and it is awesome. They import very easily and they are very easy to texture if you have any problems with the textures.

iloco posted Tue, 16 December 2003 at 4:55 PM

Good deal. It is on the way to me from barnes and noble now. Hope to have this week sometime. :o)

Got my book and cd's today. Lot of models on the cd's. I am having a problem importing the model Mississippi Steamboat into Vue Pro. It is showing as very cloudy and not clear. Anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong. It is not the atmosphers as I have changed a lot of them. I can open in poser 5 and save as a pz3 and then import into Vue pro and it shows clear. It is the steamboat that Irish has a pic in the thread. Curious how she got that clear image. :o)

Return to a thread... If you're still interested, I found a French site that has the paddle boat, free: http://www-rocq1.inria.fr/Eric.Saltel/download/WATERCRA/padlboat.html That means it is a public model, and I can send it to you if you'd like. -SMT
