I'm VERY new to the 3D world and have been thinking about getting Bryce. Being into a lot of sc-fi and fantasy I want to be able to create my own figures and creatures. Now my question is will Bryce allow me to do this ? Any help will be deeply appreciated Thaks again

Art is the question, but Bryce has a really good try at giving you the answer. But it is still a rendering program rather than a modelling program. Saying that, I don't use anything else, other than a little poser and PS7 occasionally. The best thing to do to see if it will suit your needs is to browse the gallery and if necessary, ask artits how they did what they did. This formum is full of helpful competent artists who know Bryce better than anyone.

Thank you for your help and advice I will do just that

The modeling capabilities of Bryce is limited, now that i have said that I am certain that I will get shot down :), but it is excellent for landscapes, simple modeling, importing poser people and other items. Many of us bought Bryce at the original price, I believe it is now around $US 79.00, an absolute bargain. If you have the money get Bryce and then use it as a learning tool, you will probably find out that you will wind up using it on a daily basis. :) You can use Poser for people and creatures and there are other apps designed as modelers, C4D, Amapi, and Wings3d are just a few. Wings is a free download and there is a forum here for it. It would be a good place to start and the price can not be beat. BabaLouie

BabaLouie: Not shooting you down, just check out Humorix's gallery to see the POTENTIAL Bryce can give you in modelling. Of course, you have to have Humorix's talent and skills, but your only limits are your own talent and skills. And Wings3d is free. :^)

Also Rochr's gallery and BamBam131's, best modellers here in my opion. I agree with tjohn about talent and skill, Bryce is only limited by the user.

I love Bryce and still use it despite the fact that I have access to very expensive high end software, there is just something special about the bryce environment. For modelling Bryce is just about adequate, for creatures and characters a combination of lattices and metaballs can work wonders, but truthfully consider wings or if in the UK look for a back issue of PC format, Computer Arts or 3dworld with the free C4D CE on it, it's a good modeller and can save to 3ds format which will import into bryce and various other packages. (the 3dworld issue was October 2003)

tjohn and orbital .... Ya know, I really hate it when I open my mouth and insert my foot into it. You would think that by now, I would have grown tired of the taste of toenails! :) I have always considered Bryce a 'limited modeler' but obviously it is not that at all. thanks, BabaLouie

Sorry, BabaLouie. It wasn't meant as a put-down, really. I feel pretty inadequate as a Bryce modeller when I look at the mentioned artists' work. Those people are really amazing.

Don't worry tjohn, I did not take it as a putdown. What you said about Bryce's modelling capabilites is more accurate than what I said. My statement needed to be corrected and after one look at the artists mentioned by you and orbital, there is no doubt that I spoke out of place. I seem to do that sometimes, that darn brain of mine just does not seem to pay much as much attention to me as it did when I was younger. :-) take care, BabaLouie

Thin no longer on this topic, just go get it! For the price, you really can't find a better program on the market, period. And as a renderer alone, it's still a great value and VERY powerful! Hope to see your renderings soon!

Hey Babalouie, No need to be sorry, I think a lot of people think of Bryce the same way, even the developers at first. Take care Joe
