Why do the shadows of the nutcracker and the hair of the pixie figure seem so off/transparent?

did you check the transparency setting of the hair and other mats?

for some free stuff i made
and for almost daily fotos

They both look like nutcrackers to me..... Seriously though other transparency settings I can't think of anything that would cause this.

"did you check the transparency setting of the hair and other mats?" Yes you might want to see if the Transparency DOT/Button is active.If not go into the Drop down Menu where you would click on the Shadow settings on/OFF and see if the Blend Transparency option is activated...

Yeah, hair looks like you didn't use Blend transparency but just increased the transparency of the mesh. Nutcracker, have no idea. Possibly the same thing, because of the feather.
