Looking very good. Don't forget to anti-alias.

Very cool. I think there was a request on RuntimeDNA (WishList forum) for something like this for the Microcosm -- would the textures be compatible? Might want to post there and make someone's day. There does seem to be some sharp edges between different regions of the lava -- you might want to soften those edges just a little, if possible.

Tht has been my wish over there at RDNA forver lol..So this makes my day..THANKYOU..I need one of these been kept hoping Trav would make it...

What your seeing are 4 flat planes there is no raised geometry it's as flat as the flat square in poser. What I intend to do is vreate a terrain with volcano and lava bed with lava shafts that you can look down into and see a trans mapped smoke comming out of, The volcano will be on an Island, So Yes this is for the Microcosim of RunDNA, Once I get it all created.

flat planes were cutouts I did in truespace.

This is the texture testing model, The model Im working on is built with MetaBall geometry and will look alot better then this, The sharp edges are from the flat geometry here.

DarkMatter_ posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 2:44 AM

The textures are what give the Illusion of depth, So the model Im building wont have to be too complex since it will be covered with textures.

Here are some rocks I textured, you can see the light hitting the rocks. this 3 of 4 of the volcanic textures.

This type of Lava is seen on the shores and sea bottem of Hawaii, Im not sure what they call it but this Lava moves and roll ans builds up into Islands after awhile.

DarkMatter_ posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 5:30 AM

Here is a very basic model with textures just to give an idea what im doing.

DarkMatter_ posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 5:38 AM

Model without textures is a bunch of flattened spheres layered onto each other.

DarkMatter_ posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 5:49 AM

If I just use one texture I can get a different effect.

DarkMatter_ posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 6:00 AM

Each Object had to have it's own UV MAP. Otherwise the texture wont snake like this.

DarkMatter_ posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 6:20 AM

changing the uv map will alter the effects.

DarkMatter_ posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 6:30 AM

Hard Lava, Not all textures shown.

keweljewels posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 10:24 AM

Thats exactly what I was looking for Darkmatter one that will be on an island with a top view like your flying over it. Is it going to be available here at Rosity?
